Laboratory and clinical investigations were performed on cefadroxil, and the results were obtained as follows. (1) Sensitivity distribution of cefadroxil. In S. aureus, two peaks were observed with inoculum size of 10(8)/ml: 1.56-3.13 microgram/ml and 12.5-25 microgram/ml, while with inoculum size of 10(8)/ml, the distribution was in the range of smaller than or equal to 0.1-25 microgram/ml, and the sensitivity peak was 0.78-1.56 microgram/ml. In S. pyogenes, with inoculum size of 10(8)/ml, sensitivity distribution was in the range of 0.05-1.56 microgram/ml, and the peak was 0.05 microgram/ml.

The authors report four cases of skeletal lesions associated with acute megakaryoblastic leukemia. In this particular form of the disease, the periostal appositions are more frequent and more severe than in other types of acute leukemia. A very marked osteolysis with true metaphyseal lacunar zones are also observed. These particular types of bone lesion are related to the especially widespread cellular proliferation in megakaryoblastic leukemia, and their occurrence implies a very bad prognosis.

The clinical and angiographic correlations of small deep infarcts seen on computed tomography (CT) scan were studied in 297 consecutive patients. Some of these showed the features described by Fisher as part of the lacunar syndrome. In a large number, a source of emboli from either a cardiac or a carotid source was highly probable; in a smaller number, other vascular diseases were present. The finding of a small deep infarct on CT does not exclude the need for further investigation of a possible embolic source in selected patients.

A 35 years old female with peliosis hepatis is reported. She came to us complaining of muscular aches. The only positive finding at the physical examination was a normal size liver but palpable in a deep breath; it was hard, no tender, with smooth surface. The laboratory work up was negative except for a mild increase in transaminase values. The liver biopsy disclosed the characteristic lacunar spaces fulfilled with blood. This is an unusual case because it was not associated with any other former or present disease. A review of the pertinent literature was made.

The association between meningomyelocele and various cranial abnormalities, particularly Chiari II malformation is well established.
