Clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes in thymoma- related aplastic anemia: a case report and literature review.

Thymoma-related aplastic anemia is a rare entity. This article retrospectively analyzes the clinical features and treatment course of a patient who developed aplastic anemia (AA) post-thymectomy, complemented by a systematic review of relevant literature. A 47-year-old female was diagnosed with thymoma, myasthenia gravis (MG), and severe AA (SAA). SAA onset occurred two weeks after total thymectomy, and the patient ultimately succumbed to concurrent COVID-19 infection following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). We also reviewed the clinical characteristics, treatm

Safety of home administration of cipaglucosidase alfa plus miglustat in late-onset Pompe disease: results from multiple clinical trials.

BACKGROUND: Late-onset Pompe disease (LOPD) is caused by a deficiency of the acid α-glucosidase enzyme. In LOPD treatment, enzyme replacement therapy is delivered via intravenous infusion, typically in clinical settings. Cipaglucosidase alfa is delivered with the oral enzyme stabilizer miglustat (cipa + mig). OBJECTIVES: Evaluate the safety of cipa + mig home infusions. DESIGN: Post hoc analysis of pooled safety data from three clinical trials in adults with LOPD (NCT02675465, NCT03729362, NCT04138277). METHODS: The frequency and severity of infusion-associated reactions (IARs) during cipa

Successful use of immune checkpoint Inhibition in a patient with myasthenia gravis and recurrent endometrial cancer- expanding access beyond initial clinical trial eligibility.

BACKGROUND: The use of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) has transformed the treatment of patients with advanced stage or recurrent mismatch repair deficient (dMMR) endometrial cancer. Importantly, however, ICI are commonly contraindicated in patients with preexisting autoimmune conditions. Immune related myasthenia gravis (irMG) is the second most common neurologic immune related adverse event (irAE) with ICIs, and there have been several case reports of ICI induced myasthenia gravis (MG) as well as cases of MG flares associated with ICI treatment. CASE PRESENTATION: This case report descri

Fusion of deep learning and radiomics with dynamic spatiotemporal modeling for non-small cell lung cancer recurrence risk assessment after microwave ablation.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) recurrence after microwave ablation (MWA) remains a critical clinical challenge, with existing risk stratification tools limited by static feature analysis and poor generalizability. This study aimed to develop a deep learning-radiomics (DLR) fusion model incorporating dynamic spatiotemporal patterns from longitudinal imaging to enable robust recurrence prediction. METHODS: A single-center cohort comprising 184 patients with pre- and post-MWA CT sequences (baseline to 12 months) was analyzed. We implemented a spatiotemporal modeling frame

Real-world use of efgartigimod in acetylcholine receptor antibody-positive generalized myasthenia gravis: experience from two centers in Greece and Cyprus.

INTRODUCTION: Efgartigimod, an FcRn antagonist that reduces circulating immunoglobulin G (IgG), is approved for the treatment of acetylcholine receptor (AChR) antibody-positive generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG). While its efficacy has been demonstrated in randomized clinical trials, real-world data describing longitudinal use and management of efgartigimod in routine clinical practice are still emerging. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective observational study across two neuromuscular referral centers, including adults with AChR antibody-positive gMG treated with intravenous efgartigimod b

Case Report: Immune checkpoint inhibitor-associated myocarditis in an esophageal cancer patient with myasthenia gravis following combined radiotherapy and immunotherapy.

Myocarditis associated with immune checkpoint inhibitors is a rare but potentially fatal immune-related adverse event. Esophageal cancer patients with myasthenia gravis, who are recommended to receive radiotherapy combined with immunotherapy, are at risk for ICI-related myocarditis. We report a 69-year-old male esophageal cancer patient with myasthenia gravis who was diagnosed with immune checkpoint inhibitor related myocarditis after receiving radiotherapy combined with immunotherapy. The patient's laboratory test results showed elevated troponin and N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide.

Optimising well-being in myasthenia gravis: a multidisciplinary approach.

Although myasthenia gravis (MG) primarily manifests as weakness of oculo-bulbar, axial and appendicular muscles, the disease and its treatments are associated with many comorbid conditions that impact patients' quality of life. Patients frequently experience secondary autoimmunity, cardiovascular and endocrine dysfunction, fatigue, sleep and mental health disorders. MG and its treatments can also be an important source of social and economic burden on patients. This review aims to elaborate on the multi-morbid nature of MG and to provide an approach for recognising and managing relevant comorb

AI-driven biomarker learning for the early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases: ABLEDx.

BACKGROUND: Tears are an easily accessible biofluid that reflects both emotional states and disease conditions. They are particularly enriched in extracellular vesicles (EVs), which carry proteins and nucleic acids relevant to neurological health. This makes tear EVs a promising source for biomarker discovery. However, limited sample volume and variability pose challenges for identifying reliable biomarkers for clinical diagnosis. RESULTS: We present AI-driven Biomarker Learning for the Early Diagnosis of Neurodegenerative Diseases (ABLEDx), which applies a conditional variational autoencoder

Comparative outcomes of robotic- and video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery in thymectomy: a systematic review of implications for myasthenia gravis remission and long-term oncology.

BACKGROUND: Thymectomy is a cornerstone in the management of thymic epithelial tumors and myasthenia gravis (MG). While minimally invasive techniques like video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) have gained prominence, robotic-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (RATS) has emerged as a technically advanced alternative. However, comparative long-term oncological outcomes between RATS and VATS remain underexplored. This review aims to compare RATS and VATS thymectomy regarding long-term outcomes, perioperative results, and cost. METHODS: A systematic review was conducted following PRISMA guideli

Diagnostic performance and safety of the edrophonium test in myasthenia gravis: a retrospective case-control study.

BACKGROUND: Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disorder of the neuromuscular junction. The diagnosis typically relies on clinical features, serologic testing, and neurophysiological assessment but provocation tests such as the edrophonium test can provide rapid supportive information; however, data on its diagnostic performance are limited. Thus, we aimed to evaluate the diagnostic performance and safety of the edrophonium test in MG. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective case–control study of patients who underwent an edrophonium test at the Department of Neurology of the Medical Univers

Telitacicept demonstrates high probability of efficacy in myasthenia gravis: a Bayesian real-world study.

OBJECTIVE: This real-world study evaluated the efficacy and safety of telitacicept, a dual BAFF/APRIL inhibitor, in patients with generalized myasthenia gravis (MG). METHODS: In this retrospective study, 17 myasthenia gravis patients on stable background therapy received weekly subcutaneous telitacicept (160-240 mg). Efficacy was evaluated at 12/24 weeks using a primary composite endpoint (≥2-point MG-ADL and ≥3-point QMG reduction). A pre-specified Bayesian analysis, updating a conservative prior with observed data, was employed to determine the posterior probability of treatment success and

Postoperative hormonal modulation in a patient with granulosa cell tumor and myasthenia gravis: a gyneco-oncologic perspective.

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Perioperative management of granulosa cell tumors (GCTs) becomes significantly more complex in patients with neuromuscular conditions such as myasthenia gravis (MG). Herein, we describe a case of surgically managed stage I GCT in a woman with MG and hypothyroidism. This case is unique because the patient developed postoperative cardiac instability attributed to abrupt estrogen withdrawal after oophorectomy, which resolved rapidly with estrogen replacement. CASE PRESENTATION: A 38-year-old woman (gravida 0, para 0), married for 8 years, and who is a known case of M

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy in myasthenia gravis: a systematic review of case reports with subtype-based analysis.

BACKGROUND: Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TTC) is a stress-induced cardiac disorder characterized by transient left ventricular dysfunction. Myasthenia gravis (MG), an autoimmune neuromuscular disease, can precipitate TTC during exacerbations such as myasthenic crises. However, the clinical features and outcomes of TTC associated with MG remain unclear. METHODS: We conducted a systematic review by the PRISMA guidelines. A comprehensive search of PubMed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar was performed up to May 31, 2025, using terms related to TTC and MG. Case reports and series were included if

Perceived Fatigue and Associated Psychological Factors in Patients with Myasthenia Gravis.

Introduction: Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a chronic autoimmune disorder in which fatigue represents one of the most burdensome symptoms. This multidimensional manifestation extends beyond neuromuscular fatigability and has a substantial impact on daily functioning, mental health, and quality of life. The present study aimed to evaluate the perception of fatigue in patients with MG, with particular emphasis on its interference with everyday activities and the extent to which it is understood by others. Methods: The study included 67 MG patients (61.2% women, mean age 53 years) treated at the Neur
