Management of spastic diplegic cerebral palsy using ayurveda.

Spastic cerebral palsy is a leading cause of childhood disability, with spastic diplegia being one of the most common subtypes and multidisciplinary approach in integrated form will be useful for reducing spasticity. Integrative intervention may provide less harmful and easy mode of treatment for CP children. Therefore, it is of interest to observe the effect of Ayurvedic treatment with Swarna Prashan on reducing spasticity in children with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy. An observational pre-post study was conducted at AIIMS Bhopal over 12 weeks and the total duration of study was 12 months.

Does Remodeling of Distal Femoral Extension Osteotomy Cause Recurrence of Knee Flexion Deformity in Children With Cerebral Palsy?

BACKGROUND: Distal femoral extension osteotomy (DFEO) is an established surgical option for correcting knee flexion deformity (KFD) in children with cerebral palsy. However, the extension deformity created at the distal femur may remodel over time, raising concerns about the recurrence of KFD. OBJECTIVE: To quantify the extent and rate of posterior distal femoral angle (PDFA) remodeling after DFEO, identify contributing factors, and assess its correlation with recurrence of KFD. METHODS: This retrospective study analyzed 54 children (102 knees) with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy who underw
