A 53-year-old male was admitted because of pancytopenia and chronic subdural hematoma. Bone marrow was hypercellular with 97% blasts, which expressed CD10, CD19, CD20, and immunoglobulin mu and gamma chains on the cell surface and had chromosomal abnormalities including t(8 ; 22)(q24 ; q11). The patient was diagnosed as having Burkitt leukemia. OBJECTIVE: To provide a new therapy with definite quality controllable therapeutic effects for functional restoration of the affected limbs in hemiplegic patients due to cerebral thrombosis.
METHOD: 180 patients with hemiplegia due to cerebral thrombosis were randomly divided into 2 groups: the treatment group (treated with scalp acupuncture by using the lifting manipulation) and the control group (treated with scalp acupuncture by using the twirling manipulation). Evaluations were given for the two groups based on the improvement of myodynamia and comprehensive functions after the treatment.

We report a 67-year-old man with rt. hand resting tremor and rigidity after lt. putaminal hemorrhage. He had hypertension and alcoholic liver cirrhosis as past history. When he was 62 years old, he realized rt. hemiplegia suddenly and admitted in Juntendo Urayasu hospital. Brain CT showed intracranial hemorrhage in lt. putamen. He was treated with neurosurgery operation for rejecting hemorrhage. Mild rt. hemiparesis remained but he could live independently. PURPOSE: The aim of the study is to compare the presence or absence of seizures and their relationship with the electroencephalographic findings in children with congenital and acquired hemiplegia.

We report a 65-year-old male who suddenly developed consciousness disturbance and left hemiplegia, with tandem embolic occlusions of the right internal carotid artery (ICA) and the middle cerebral artery (MCA). Intra-arterial administration of recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA) through the right ICA was performed 2.75 hours after onset, but no recanalization of the right ICA was obtained. We induced neural cells by treating cynomolgus monkey embryonic stem (ES) cells with retinoic acid. The treated cells mainly expressed betaIIItubulin. They further differentiated into neurons expressing neurofilament middle chain (NFM) in elongated axons. Half of the cells differentiated into Islet1+ motoneurons in vitro. Secondary Moyamoya disease, also known as Moyamoya syndrome has been rarely associated with Down syndrome. In pediatric patients, the usual presentation is that of ischemic stroke. Here is reported a 4-year-old child with Down syndrome and Moyamoya syndrome who presented with acute-onset right hemiplegia. A high index of suspicion is necessary to make the diagnosis.

We present two patients who developed bilateral border zone brain infarctions after massive bleeding. Patient 1 was a 46-year old woman who developed bilateral visual disturbance and left hand monoparesis after excessive menstruation with severe anemia.
