Congenital erosive and vesicular dermatosis healing with reticulated supple scarring is a rare entity presenting in the newborn with crusted erosions and vesicles that heal relatively rapidly, forming unique reticulated scars. The authors describe the clinical and histopathologic findings of two patients with bilateral conjunctival lymphoma who presented with a history of chronic conjunctivitis without clinically noticeable subconjunctival nodules.

BACKGROUND: Hereditary benign intraepithelial dyskeratosis (HBID) is a rare autosomal dominant disorder with incomplete penetrance. It is characterized by bilateral limbal conjunctival plaques combined with similar changes in the oral mucosa.
PATIENT: An 11-year-old African-American patient presented with bilateral chronic conjunctivitis, nasal and temporal limbal conjunctival plaques, and plaques of the oral mucosa, all of which resisted therapy. The onset of the symptoms was in early childhood. Conjunctival smears, allergy tests, blood samples and the internal examination were inconclusive.

OBJECTIVE: To describe patterns of conjunctivitis caused by ophthalmic decongestants.
DESIGN: Case series.
SETTING: Outpatient eye clinic.
PATIENTS: We selected patients with conjunctival inflammation who were using nonprescription decongestant eyedrops, who had no other cause for conjunctivitis, and whose conditions improved after discontinuing the incriminated preparations.
MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Clinical characteristics of conjunctival inflammation and time to resolution of symptoms and signs after discontinuing the use of eyedrops.
RESULTS: Seventy patients (137 eyes) were identified.
