A male ball python (Python regius) and a female blue tongue skink (Tiliqua spp.) of unknown age were evaluated for anorexia, lethargy, excessive shedding, corneal opacity (python), and weight loss (skink) of approximately three weeks' duration. These animals represented the worst affected animals from a private herpetarium where many animals exhibited similar signs. PURPOSE: Ocular allergy is a common disease that is on the rise. Seasonal and perennial conjunctivitis are the most common forms of ocular allergy. Itching, hyperemia, foreign body sensation, irritation, blurred vision or ocular dryness sensations, tearing, and photophobia are the clinical signs observed in patients. A topical antiallergic treatment is prescribed associated with ocular cleaning to contribute to an antigen washing of the ocular surface. Morphologic changes of corneal epithelium after third eyelid removal were observed in six normal Beagle dogs. The observation was conducted on the 17th, 35th and 72nd week after the removal. PURPOSE: To describe the history, symptoms, and clinical signs and discuss the treatment of blepharokeratoconjunctivitis.
METHODS: Eight children (five girls and three boys), ranging in age from 3.5-13 years, were clinically diagnosed with blepharokeratoconjunctivitis.
