PURPOSE: This retrospective case-control cross-sectional study compared the outcomes of sulcus placement of glaucoma drainage devices (GDD) versus traditional anterior chamber (AC) to test the hypothesis that sulcus placement results in fewer complications whilst maintaining similar efficacy.

A safe technique for entry incisions and closure in stage 5 retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) surgery is being described. Three 23G clear corneal incisions are made which allow for safe and snug entry of 25G calibrated infusion and 25G instruments for performing lensectomy, membrane removal and vitrectomy. We report a 63-year-old man with ischaemic heart disease on dual antiplatelet therapy (aspirin plus ticagrelor) who was diagnosed as a primary angle-closure suspect and was to undergo a neodymium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet laser iridotomy at Centro Oftalmológico Virgilio Galvis, Floridablanca, Colombia in 2016. A 54-year-old woman presented with recurrent redness and blurred vision of the left eye with elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) for one year. She was treated as "iridocyclitis" and ``Posner-Schlossman syndrome'' at the local hospitals. However, the patient developed intermittent ocular inflammation and hyphema. Patient had a cataract surgery and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation in the left eye one year before at the local hospital. A diagnostic procedure was performed and the possible pathogenesis was discussed.

BACKGROUND: Pseudophacocele is a rare complication of blunt trauma in pseudophakic eyes.
CASE: We present a case of 60-year-old male who presented with pseudophacocele after injury from a bicycle handle. On presentation, visual acuity in the right eye was perception of light (PL) in 2 quadrants (superior and temporal) and left eye was 20/20. A PCIOL was seen superonasally in the right subconjunctival space with total hyphaema. Ultrasound demonstrated vitreous haemorrhage with membranes in right eye. We describe the surgical management and further clinical course of the patient.

Artificial iris implants were originally developed for therapeutic purposes but have recently been used for cosmetic alteration of the eye colour. A 21-year-old woman presented with bilateral eye redness, visual loss, raised intraocular pressure, corneal oedema and hyphaema following implantation of artificial irises in Tunisia. Combined medical and surgical management led to improvements, but reduced vision and photophobia persisted. Cosmetic iris implantation can lead to persistently sight-threatening eye complications, and we strongly advise against its use.

AIM: To estimate the efficacy and safety of the Ahmed implant in patients with high risk for failure after glaucoma surgery.
METHODS: In 342 eyes of 342 patients with refractory glaucoma, even with application of medical treatment, the Ahmed valve was introduced for intraocular pressure (IOP) control, in the period of the last 20y. The nature of glaucoma was neovascular in 162 eyes, pseudophakic or aphakic in 49 eyes, inflammatory in 29 eyes and non working previous antiglaucomatic surgical interventions in 102 eyes.
RESULTS: Follow-up ranged from 18 to 120mo with a mean follow-up of 63.2mo.

Our aim was to evaluate ophthalmological injuries associated with fractures of the orbitozygomaticomaxillary complex that required operative treatment, and we collected data retrospectively over a period of five years (2012-2016 inclusive). Malignant melanoma is the most common primary malignant tumour of the iris, but represents a small proportion of all uveal melanomas. The authors describe a 34-year-old male with a pigmented lesion of the iris. The lesion remained stable for 7 years, but the patient re-presented after this time with sudden enlargement of the mass and hyphaema. Excisional biopsy confirmed cavitary melanoma of the iris. This is the first reported case of cavitation in a primary iris melanoma. The patient has not had any further adjuvant treatment and remains metastasis free at 5 years of follow-up.

Purpose. To evaluate the effectiveness of deep sclerectomy with T-flux implant (DS T-flux) in patients with pseudoexfoliation glaucoma (PExG). Methods. 20 eyes of 18 patients with medically uncontrolled PExG have undergone DS T-flux implantation. Postoperatively we evaluated the IOP values and the frequency of complications.
