Congenital cataract and uveitis caused by Spiroplasma ixodetis are rare, with only a small number of cases reported worldwide. We report 2 infants with unilateral uveitic congenital cataracts. Both underwent lensectomy and anterior vitrectomy, received intracameral antibiotics, and were postoperatively treated with a topical corticosteroid-antibiotic regimen. INTRODUCTION: Dysfunctional Lens Syndrome (DLS) represents a progressive age-related decline in the optical and functional performance of the crystalline lens. Although cataract remains the most clinically recognizable endpoint of lens aging, important visual changes often occur much earlier, including presbyopia, increased higher-order aberrations (HOAs), intraocular scatter, reduced contrast sensitivity and deterioration of retinal image quality. These changes reflect progressive molecular, biomechanical and optical alterations within the aging crystalline lens in different stages.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the long-term efficacy of phacoemulsification combined with trabeculectomy (Phaco-Trab) for advanced chronic primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) with cataract.
METHODS: Patients with advanced chronic PACG coexisting with cataracts who underwent Phaco-Trab were enrolled. The morphologic structures of filtering blebs, including characteristics under slit-lamp examination, anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT), and in vivo confocal microscopy (IVCM), were used to evaluate the filtering function.
RESULTS: A total of 30 eyes from 27 patients were enrolled.
