CHORIORETINAL ANASTOMOSIS AND RETINAL DETACHMENT WITH LASER PHOTOCOAGULATION-TREATED INCONTINENTIA PIGMENTI.

PURPOSE: The objective of this study was to describe a case of incontinentia pigmenti in which chorioretinal anastomosis occurred after laser photocoagulation, which was ultimately complicated by tractional and rhegmatogenous detachment. METHODS: This was an observational case report. RESULTS: A 2-month-old was referred to ophthalmology for a rash characteristic of incontinentia pigmenti due to concern for ocular involvement and was found to have peripheral avascular retina with early neovascularization. Following several rounds of panretinal photocoagulation, a chorioretinal anastomosis was

Vitreomacular traction - a review.

Vitreomacular traction (VMT) is characterised by abnormal adhesion of the posterior cortical vitreous with the macula causing distortion of the foveal contour and associated with symptoms of reduction in visual acuity and/or metamorphopsia. This review article explores the pathophysiology, clinical features, diagnostic and treatment options for VMT. Advances in imaging modalities such as optical coherence tomography (OCT) have revolutionized the understanding of the vitreoretinal interface abnormalities and helps in monitoring the disease progression. The natural history of VMT is variable and

Treatment approaches for refractory full-thickness macular holes.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Full-thickness macular holes (FTMH) can result in significant visual impairment if untreated. Although conventional treatment achieves high closure rates, FTMH can persist or reopen in some cases. This review examines recent advances in surgical approaches for managing refractory FTMH and highlights their effectiveness and limitations. RECENT FINDINGS: Approaches to refractory FTMH aim to relieve traction, encourage glial cell proliferation, improve RPE pump efficiency, increase retinal compliance, and/or provide replacement tissue. A variety of techniques targeting these m
