In 3 patients under local pilocarpine medication, corneal marginal infiltration and limbic ulcerations were noted that were typical for allergic marginal keratitis. A classical allergic conjunctivitis was present in every case. They healed after pilocarpine instillations were suspended and local corticosteroids together with oral antihistaminic drugs were applied. Marginal allergic erosions of the cornea is another form of secondary complication in patients using pilocarpine.

The simultaneous management of glaucoma and corneal opacification is sometimes required in infants with severe congenital glaucoma if timely visual rehabilitation is to be achieved. A 1-month-old female infant presented with an enlarged, protuberant, opaque cornea in each eye and elevated intraocular pressure. An intrastromal, fluid-filled cleft was noted in both corneas. BACKGROUND: As long as Wolfgang Stock was head of the University Eye Clinic Tübingen (1921-1952), he founded a voluminous collection of ophthalmopathological slides, which reflect the knowledge about and possible therapies for various eye diseases at that time.

PURPOSE: To describe the clinical presentation and course of Whipple disease in an adult.
METHODS: A 34-year-old man with phthisis bulbi in the right eye secondary to uveitis-induced neovascular glaucoma presented with severe acute posterior uveitis in the left eye. He underwent esophagogastroduodenoscopy and jejunal biopsy for evaluation of anemia. The posterior uveitis was treated with a subtenon injection of triamcinolone.
RESULT: The diagnosis of Whipple disease was confirmed by polymerase chain reaction analysis of the jejunal biopsy that demonstrated Tropheryma whippelii rDNA.

BACKGROUND: The highly swelling poly (glycerol monomethacrylate) gel (polyGLYMA) and hydrophilic polymer poly (triethylenglycol monomethacrylate (polyTEGMA) were tested as potential viscoelastics for intraoperative use in anterior segment surgery.
