A 42-year-old male was admitted with nasal bleeding. On admission he showed no abnormal neurological sign. A diagnosis of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) (L1) was made, and modified L-10M protocol was performed. The results of trabeculectomy in patients with glaucoma secondary to uveitis are poor, but the exact cause of this remains unknown. We report two unusual causes of giant papillary conjunctivitis (GPC). One patient developed GPC secondary to and elevated filtering bleb. Another patient developed focal GPC secondary to elevated calcific plaques (band keratopathy). The first patient's symptoms improved after treatment with sodium cromolyn drops. GPC resolved in the second patient after superficial keratectomy was performed. These cases represent two unusual causes of GPC and emphasize the role of mechanical trauma as a causative factor.

Drainage surgery may be required in patients who have previously demonstrated a corticosteroid-induced rise in intraocular pressure. This report presents three patients who had complicated secondary glaucoma and who demonstrated an intraocular pressure increase in response to topical cortico-steroid drugs, despite the presence of a functioning Molteno implant. The IOP depressive effect of puerarin, a beta-receptor blocker, was found to be optimal at the concentration of 1% in animal experiments. Clinical trial use on glaucoma patients (80 cases, 143 eyes) demonstrated good IOP depressive effect on primary open--or closed-angle glaucoma and secondary glaucoma. Repository corticosteroid was injected into the posterior sub-Tenon's space in 29 cases (39 eyes) of cystoid macular edema (CME) secondary to uveitis. They included 12 cases of Behçet's disease, 7 cases of Sarcoidosis, one case of tuberculous uveitis and 9 cases of etiology unknown uveitis. Late-onset angle-closure glaucoma secondary to retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) occurred in ten eyes of ten patients. The age at presentation ranged from 12 to 45 years (mean, 32 years).
