Partial Resolution of Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment Following Development of Choroidal Detachment.

PURPOSE: To report the case of a rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) which underwent transient, partial resolution from a buckling effect of a concurrent serous choroidal detachment (CD). METHODS: Case report. RESULTS: A 59-year-old male presented with a superior, bullous RRD. He later developed significant CD and hypotony, with the CD appearing to buckle the superior retinal break resulting in resolution of the subretinal fluid (SRF) superiorly. Following initial laser retinopexy, improvement of the CD made the SRF more apparent, and anticipating a loss of its buckling effect, pneumatic

Exchange of Ahmed glaucoma valve for a Paul glaucoma implant and management of postoperative hypotony: a case report.

INTRODUCTION: Glaucoma can manifest in several forms, and some, such as uveitic glaucoma, are refractory to standard treatment. Glaucoma drainage devices (GDDs) play a crucial role in managing these diseases. The Paul glaucoma implant (PGI) is a relatively new addition to the array of available GDDs. CASE PRESENTATION: We present the case of a 20-year-old woman with a history of juvenile idiopathic arthritis and uveitic glaucoma. The glaucoma was previously managed with an Ahmed Glaucoma Valve (AGV) in the left eye. Despite initial control of the intraocular pressure (IOP), it increased to 36

A Systematic and Narrative Review of Safety and Complications in Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) Between 2014-2024.

INTRODUCTION: Earlier intervention in glaucoma has been suggested to slow disease progression and preserve visual function and quality of life. Consequently, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) is increasingly used in mild-to-moderate glaucoma. Although numerous techniques and devices are available, their comparative efficacy remains debated: most procedures lower intraocular pressure to the mid-teens in primary open-angle glaucoma, but without clear evidence of superiority. As these surgeries are now offered to younger, otherwise healthy patients, safety has therefore become a central

Sixth Cranial Nerve Paresis Secondary to Intracranial Hypotension: Etiology, Clinical Characteristics, and Treatment.

Intracranial hypotension is a typically self-limiting or treatable condition characterized by orthostatic headache and neck stiffness. However, it may be severe and may be associated with neurological complications, particularly sixth cranial nerve palsy. We report two young women who presented to the emergency department with diplopia secondary to acute unilateral sixth cranial nerve paresis in the context of intracranial hypotension following anesthetic procedures. In both cases, clinical and radiological findings consistent with a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) deficit were documented, including

Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension in a Child with Marfan Syndrome: Clinical, Neuroimaging, and Biomarker Findings from a Case Report.

Marfan syndrome (MFS) is a connective tissue disorder classically associated with cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and ocular manifestations. Neurological involvement is increasingly recognized and is most commonly related to spontaneous intracranial hypotension secondary to dural ectasia and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage. By contrast, idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) is exceptionally rare in pediatric patients with MFS. We report the case of an 8-year-old girl with Marfan syndrome presenting with neck pain, diplopia, bilateral papilledema, and bilateral sixth cranial nerve palsy
