Comorbid health conditions in people with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorders: An umbrella review of systematic reviews and meta-analyses.

BACKGROUND: We aimed to systematically review meta-analyses on the link between attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and a broad range of psychiatric, physical, and behavioral health conditions (PROSPERO; no.CRD42023448907). RESULTS: We identified 22 meta-analyses that included 544 primary studies, covering 76 unique conditions in over 234 million participants across 36 countries and six continents. We found high-certainty evidence for the associations between ADHD and neuropsychiatric conditions (bipolar disorders, personality disorders, schizophrenia, and pragmatic language skill

Genotype-Phenotype Correlation Model for the Spectrum of TYR-Associated Albinism.

We present two children aged 3 and 5 years who share identical TYR genotype, yet exhibit contrasting phenotypic manifestations in terms of eye, skin, and hair coloration. The patients are heterozygous for TYR c.1A>G, p. (Met1?), which is pathogenic, and homozygous for TYR c.1205G>A, p. (Arg402Gln), which is classified as a risk factor. The children manifested diminished visual acuity, nystagmus, and foveal hypoplasia. The first patient presented with hypopigmentation of the skin, hair, and ocular tissues, while the second patient presented with hypopigmentation of the skin, hair, retinal pigme

Novel and Previously Known Mutations of the KCNV2 Gene Cause Various Variants of the Clinical Course of Cone Dystrophy with Supernormal Rod Response in Children.

Background/Objectives: Cone dystrophy with supernormal rod response (CDSRR) is a rare autosomal recessive retinal disorder characterized by a delayed and markedly decreased photoreceptor response. In this article, we aim to describe the clinical course and associated molecular findings in children with cone dystrophy with supernormal rod response associated with recessive mutations in the KCNV2 gene, which encodes a subunit (Kv8.2) of the voltage-gated potassium channel. Methods: The genetic testing of two patients included the next-generation sequencing of a retinal dystrophy panel and direct

Visual training for the treatment of retinal photoreceptor inner and outer segment connection (IS/OS) fracture: A case report.

BACKGROUND: The inner segments and outer segments (IS/OS) of the retinal photoreceptors are the areas that receive light signals and are the most initial sites for generating visual impulses, and the integrity of the IS/OS has a direct impact on visual sensitivity. METHODS: We performed OCT on a 6-year-old child with vision loss and found that the cause of his vision loss was a retinal IS/OS fracture, and the child underwent some treatments to improve microcirculation and nourish the retina at a higher-level hospital, but his vision never improved. Our examination of this child revealed that
