Versatile Bacillus Serine Proteases: Catalysts for Innovation in Industry, Medicine, and Environmental Sustainability.

INTRODUCTION: Patellar dislocation in children and adolescents, particularly habitual and congenital types, is a challenging condition that can cause significant functional impairment and long-term morbidity if untreated. Medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) is a critical structure in stabilizing the patella, and its reconstruction has been widely attempted in clinical practice using various tissue autografts. The same has been extensively published for adults; however, not many studies have been published in pediatric patients with habitual patellofemoral instability using the iliotibial ban

Impact of diabetes mellitus on tympanic membrane healing after fully endoscopic tympanoplasty.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is known to impair wound healing in various tissues. However, its impact on tympanic membrane (TM) healing following tympanoplasty remains controversial. While clinical studies generally suggest that DM does not affect the final TM closure rate, animal experiments indicate it may significantly prolong healing time. This study aims to systematically investigate the correlation between diabetic status and perioperative glycemic control levels with tympanic membrane healing time following tympanoplasty, thereby enhancing the understanding of the impact

Proteomic Remodeling of the Cochlea During Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media Reveals Immune-Driven Injury Pathways.

Chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) is a persistent middle ear infection in which chronic inflammation drives irreversible sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL), yet the molecular mechanisms linking middle ear chronic infection to cochlear injury remain poorly defined. Using a murine model of CSOM induced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) persisters, a quantitative proteomic profiling of cochlear tissue was performed at seven days post-infection. Mass spectrometry revealed over 250 proteins that were significantly altered, indicating broad immune activation, oxidative stress, and disruption of io

Microbiota in Chronic Suppurative Otitis media: association with Postoperative Tympanic membrane outcomes.

Chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) is a prevalent condition with global health implications due to its impact on hearing and quality of life. Conventional treatments often fail because of bacterial biofilms and antimicrobial resistance. Effective treatment of CSOM depends on the precise determination of the middle ear microbiota; however, current microbial detection methods do not meet this need. Postoperative reperforation may compromise surgical outcomes. If the risk of perforation can be predicted immediately after surgery, sensitive antibiotics could be administered proactively for ea

Gradenigo syndrome in a child: case report and literature review.

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Gradenigo syndrome is a rare but potentially serious complication of suppurative otitis media, characterized by the classic triad of suppurative otorrhea, abducens nerve (VI) paralysis, and pain in the trigeminal nerve (V) territory. Although the advent of antibiotic therapy has significantly reduced its incidence, this condition remains relevant, particularly in children, requiring early recognition and appropriate multidisciplinary management. CASE PRESENTATION: We report the case of a 13-year-old girl who presented with a painful swelling behind her right ear t
