Spontaneous Bilateral Vesical Artery Pseudoaneurysms Presenting With Massive Recurrent Hematuria and Obstructive Acute Kidney Injury: A Case Report.

Spontaneous development of vesical artery pseudoaneurysm (VA-PA) as a cause of life-threatening hematuria is very rare. Most of the existing reports are due to trauma or other types of pelvic surgeries/urological procedures. Incomplete hemostasis in these patients can lead to subsequent complications such as clot retention, severe blood loss resulting in anemia and obstructive AKI. We report this extremely rare case of a 35 year old lady with bilateral VA-PA causing recurrent episodes of massive hematuria and obstructive AKI that was ultimately resolved by selective embolization. A 35-year-old

Iatrogenic Pseudoaneurysm After Arthroscopic Knee Procedures: A Systematic Review of Presenting Features, Injured Vessels, Management, and Outcomes.

Pseudoaneurysm after arthroscopic knee procedures is uncommon but clinically important because it can initially resemble routine postoperative swelling, hematoma, recurrent hemarthrosis, deep vein thrombosis, infection, or compartment syndrome. PubMed, Embase, and Scopus were searched through July 9, 2026. The original database pathway yielded 312 records and 54 included reports representing 60 patient cases. During peer-review citation audit, three additional potentially eligible reports were identified; two full texts were retrieved and included, while one report could not be retrieved and w

Genetic Insights Into Cryptogenic Stroke: From Etiologic Heterogeneity to Clinical Translation.

Cryptogenic stroke remains challenging because its complex etiology and limited diagnostic tools hinder precise secondary prevention. Growing genetic evidence suggests that cryptogenic stroke may have identifiable genetic architectures that provide additional insights into etiologic classification. In recent years, large-scale genome-wide association studies, multi-omics integration, and other genetic investigations have begun to reveal signals linked to several potential causes, including occult atrial fibrillation and atrial cardiopathy, nonstenotic carotid artery plaque, patent foramen oval

Pulmonary artery intimal sarcoma masquerading as pulmonary embolism during therapeutic apixaban: A case report.

Pulmonary artery intimal sarcoma (PAIS) is a rare intravascular malignancy that can closely resemble pulmonary embolism (PE). A 65-year-old man receiving therapeutic apixaban for atrial fibrillation presented with 3 weeks of progressive exertional dyspnea. Computed tomography pulmonary angiography showed a large unilateral filling defect in the left main pulmonary artery with occlusion of the left upper- and lower-lobe branches, initially interpreted as PE. However, the D-dimer was low, bilateral lower-extremity ultrasonography showed no deep venous thrombosis, cardiac biomarkers were normal,

Ischemic paralysis caused by internal iliac artery embolism after endovascular recanalization for lower extremity arteriosclerosis obliterans: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Lower extremity paralysis is a devastating complication after endovascular therapy for lower extremity arteriosclerosis obliterans (LEAOD). Common mechanisms include ischemia-reperfusion injury, acute arterial embolism, and thrombosis. Paralysis caused by internal iliac artery embolism is exceptionally rare and may be overlooked when postoperative neurologic deficits are initially attributed to spinal or cerebral causes. CASE PRESENTATION: An 86-year-old man developed recurrent bilateral intermittent claudication 3 years after endovascular treatment for LEAOD, followed by right to

Acute mesenteric ischemia caused by adhesive-band-induced mesenteric artery compression with secondary ileal volvulus and internal hernia: a rare case report.

INTRODUCTION: Acute mesenteric ischemia (AMI) is a surgical emergency caused by inadequate blood flow through the mesenteric vessels, resulting in intestinal ischemia and eventual gangrene of the bowel wall. The condition may result from arterial thrombosis, embolism, mesenteric venous thrombosis, or non-occlusive systemic hypoperfusion. CASE PRESENTATION: We report a rare case of AMI in a 73-year-old female with a significant past surgical history of transabdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oopherectomy. She presented with sudden, severe abdominal pain that was disproportionate to

Cardiovascular impact of chronic venous disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

We aimed to gather and summarize evidence on the potential links between chronic venous disease (CVeD), cardiovascular events and mortality in adults. A systematic search of the PubMed database was conducted in accordance with PRISMA guidelines in October 2025. Observational studies or registries were eligible. Adults diagnosed with CVeD were compared with controls free of CVeD or varicose veins. Primary outcomes were cardiovascular events (angina, atrial fibrillation, chronic heart failure, coronary artery disease, deep vein thrombosis, stroke, myocardial infarction, peripheral artery disease

Pseudoaneurysm-related gastrointestinal bleed in pancreatitis: a case series and diagnostic challenges.

Vascular complications can occur in up to 25% of pancreatitis patients. These include venous thrombosis, arterial pseudoaneurysms, arterial thrombosis, and pancreato-portal fistula formation. Gastrointestinal bleeding in the context of pancreatitis is a rare but morbid complication that may be misattributed to other common causes. Herein, we present three cases that highlight the importance of clinician awareness, early recognition, and accurate diagnosis of visceral artery pseudoaneurysm in the setting of pancreatitis.

[Original thrombectomy combined with stenting for symptomatic internal carotid artery stenosis in early period of ischemic stroke].

Optimizing the treatment of ischemic stroke is an urgent task in modern medicine. One of its causes is acute thrombosis of internal carotid artery due to atherosclerotic lesion. Conventional thrombolysis is effective only for carotid artery stenosis < 50%, and carotid endarterectomy in acute phase of stroke is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Endovascular technologies are preferable for carotid artery thrombosis. Direct vacuum thrombectomy and thrombectomy using stent-retrievers are ineffective in 10-25% of patients. The authors present treatment of ischemic stroke caused by inter

Complete Resolution of Unprovoked Left Renal Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism Associated With Severe Iron Deficiency Anemia: A Five-Year Follow-Up Case Report and Dual-Energy CT Appraisal.

Combined renal vein thrombosis (RVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) in young adults without nephrotic syndrome, malignancy, or an identified major thrombophilia is uncommon. Severe iron deficiency anemia (IDA) has been associated with increased thrombotic risk, although a causal relationship cannot be established from an individual case. A 21-year-old male patient presented with flank and chest pain. Diagnostic workup confirmed acute left RVT and an acute embolism of the posterior basal segmental artery of the right lower lobe with pulmonary infarction, concurrent with profound microcytic IDA (he

Sequential Contralateral Large-Vessel Occlusion Following Intravenous Thrombolysis: A Case Report of Dynamic Bilateral Cerebral Arterial Thrombosis.

Acute large-vessel occlusion stroke can evolve rapidly during the hyperacute treatment period, occasionally resulting in a clinical and radiological picture that differs substantially from the initial presentation. We report an unusual case of sequential contralateral large-vessel occlusion occurring within approximately three hours. A patient presented with transient dysphasia that resolved rapidly. While awaiting stroke assessment, he developed confusion, left-sided weakness, and dysarthria. Initial imaging demonstrated a distal right middle cerebral artery (MCA) occlusion with a National In

Chylothorax Secondary to Behçet's Disease: A Case Report.

Chylothorax is an uncommon cause of pleural effusion and is most frequently associated with trauma or malignancy. Its occurrence in Behçet's disease (BD) is exceptionally rare and is usually related to extensive central venous thrombosis causing obstruction of the thoracic duct. We report the case of a 35-year-old woman with a five-year history of BD who presented with progressive dyspnea, dry cough, and mild hemoptysis. Chest computed tomography (CT) revealed extensive thrombosis of the superior vena cava extending to both brachiocephalic veins and the right subclavian vein, associated with l

Modern brachytherapy modalities vs. external beam radiotherapy in post-operative non-melanoma skin cancer: A systematic review.

PURPOSE: Facial non-melanoma skin cancers (NMSCs) are primarily managed surgically, but adjuvant or definitive radiotherapy is indicated for high-risk or anatomically complex lesions. While electron-based external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) remains standard, high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy modalities now utilize surface moulds, 3D-printed applicators, interstitial implants, and flap techniques. This systematic review assessed the oncological efficacy, dosimetric characteristics, toxicity, and cosmetic outcomes of these brachytherapy techniques compared with EBRT. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Follow

Inferior vena cava hyperechoic structure in a patient with cardiac myxoma: a surgical case report and literature review.

BACKGROUND: IVC hyperechoic structure detected by echocardiography is relatively uncommon and is usually associated with deep vein thrombosis and cancers. In most cases, the etiology can be clarified using computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). However, we encountered an IVC hyperechoic structure that was not confirmed by multimodality imaging in a patient with cardiac myxoma. CASE PRESENTATION: A 62-year-old woman presented with sudden-onset left hemiplegia and right homonymous hemianopsia. On arrival, her left arm was cold to the touch. Contrast-enhanced CT demonstra

Duodenal Obstruction and Grade III Acute Cholangitis Following Pancreaticoduodenal Artery Aneurysm Rupture During Conservative Management of Acute Type B Aortic Dissection: A Case Report.

Aneurysms of the pancreaticoduodenal arcade are uncommon visceral artery aneurysms that are strongly associated with stenosis or occlusion of the celiac axis and that may rupture irrespective of size. Rupture produces a peripancreatic or retroperitoneal hematoma, and duodenal stenosis is a recognized sequela; biliary complications have rarely been reported. An 84-year-old man admitted with an acute Stanford type B aortic dissection with a thrombosed false lumen was managed conservatively with strict blood pressure control. Upper-Limb Ischemia Due to Distal Embolization from a Dissecting Axillary Artery Pseudoaneurysm in an Elite Overhead Athlete: A Case Report.

In overhead-throwing athletes, repetitive shoulder motion may cause intimal injury and pseudoaneurysm formation, most commonly involving the posterior circumflex humeral artery. An elite cricket fast bowler in his 20s presented with 6 months of left shoulder and hand discomfort, followed by rest pain and numbness of the fourth and fifth fingers. Duplex ultrasonography showed thrombosis of an axillary artery pseudoaneurysm with distal radial and ulnar artery embolization, and magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated a 1.5-cm pseudoaneurysm at the origin of the subscapular artery. Bilateral Renal Infarction Associated With Left Renal Artery Thrombosis and Predominant Left Renal Infarction: A Case Report.

Although uncommon, bilateral renal infarction and renal artery thrombosis should be considered a potential cause of acute kidney injury. Its nonspecific presentation frequently contributes to delayed diagnosis, thereby compromising timely intervention and increasing the risk of irreversible injury. While embolic and thrombotic mechanisms are the predominant etiologies, idiopathic renal artery thrombosis is rare. We report the case of a 42-year-old man who presented with sudden-onset left flank pain radiating to the left upper quadrant, associated with nausea and abdominal discomfort. He had a
