OBJECTIVES: To develop a simple protocol for ultrasound Duplex surveillance of infrainguinal vein bypasses.
DESIGN: The value of three Doppler waveform parameters, obtained from a single point of the bypass, for identification of stenoses was studied in 91 in situ vein bypasses. A 60-year-old woman presented with a cough, nocturnal stridor and dysphagia. Bronchoscopy showed tight compression of the right main bronchus. Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) and a computed tomographic (CT) scan showed the presence of a right-sided aortic arch with aberrant left subclavian artery. The distal right arch and proximal right-sided descending thoracic aorta were aneurysmal and were responsible for this compression. Surgical relief was accomplished by dividing the aberrant left subclavian artery and replacing the aneurysm with a vascular graft.

Several surgical techniques have been applied for the treatment of venoocclusive dysfunction sufficient enough to create erectile dysfunction; however, long-term success rates have been dismal. Twenty-six patients (mean age, 41 years) with documented venogenic erectile dysfunction by dynamic pharmacocavernosometry and cavernosography, who had normal pelvic arteriograms, underwent deep dorsal vein arterialization. We evaluated the effects of antecedent anginal episodes and coronary artery stenosis on left ventricular function during coronary occlusion and the role of collateral filling in 33 patients with angina pectoris who underwent angioplasty. Group I consisted of 15 patients with anterior myocardial infarction in the absence of a coronary artery luminal narrowing of 75% or more. Chondrodysplasia punctata (CP) is sometimes accompanied by heart lesions, but the literature is not specific or consistent regarding the incidence or types of cardiac anomalies. A patient with the mild Conradi-Hünermann type of CP is peripheral pulmonary arterial stenoses. A review of the literature brought to light a total of 23 patients with congenital heart lesions that were mainly found among cases of Conradi-Hünermann type and autosomal recessively inherited CP.
