Cross-Cultural Adaptation and Initial Psychometric Evaluation of the Kazakh-Language Sino-Nasal Outcome Test-22 (SNOT-22) in Patients with Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps.

Background/Objectives: Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is associated with substantial impairment of the health-related quality of life. The Sino-Nasal Outcome Test-22 (SNOT-22) is one of the most widely used patient-reported outcome measures in chronic rhinosinusitis. To our knowledge, no published psychometric evaluation of a Kazakh-language SNOT-22 has previously been reported. The aim of this study was to perform the cross-cultural adaptation and evaluate selected measurement properties of the Kazakh-language SNOT-22 in adults with CRSwNP. Methods: This prospective single-

Peak nasal inspiratory flow in the assessment of patients with severe chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps treated with full house endoscopic sinus surgery: a prospective longitudinal study.

BACKGROUND: Peak nasal inspiratory flow (PNIF) is a simple objective measure of nasal patency, but its role in severe chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) remains insufficiently defined. This study evaluated the longitudinal behavior of PNIF after full-house endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) and its relationship with rhinomanometry, acoustic rhinometry and patient-reported outcomes. METHODOLOGY: Thirty adults with uncontrolled CRSwNP undergoing full-house ESS were prospectively followed at baseline and at 1, 3 and 6 months. PNIF, active anterior rhinomanometry at a reference pressur

Second-line dupilumab after anti-IL5/Rα failure: remission rates and clinical outcomes in severe asthma.

BACKGROUND: Switching biologic therapies occurs in 10-25% of severe asthma patients, yet remission rates after first-line biologic failure remain poorly characterised. OBJECTIVE: To assess clinical remission after switching from anti-IL5/Rα to anti-IL4/13 therapy following treatment failure. METHODS: This observational cohort study included all Danish adults with severe asthma switching to second-line anti-IL4/13 after failing to achieve remission on anti-IL5/Rα. Remission at 12 months was assessed by four domains: no exacerbations, no maintenance oral corticosteroid use (mOCS), ACQ-6 ≤1.5,

Efficacy and safety of tezepelumab in Japanese patients with chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps: A subpopulation analysis of the randomized WAYPOINT study.

OBJECTIVE: Tezepelumab, an anti-thymic stromal lymphopoietin monoclonal antibody, effectively reduced polyp size in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP). Tezepelumab also reduced the need for nasal polyp surgery and systemic corticosteroids (SCS) in the phase 3 WAYPOINT study across 10 countries (including Japan). This descriptive subgroup analysis evaluated the efficacy and safety of tezepelumab in Japanese patients enrolled in the WAYPOINT study; no formal statistical hypothesis testing was performed. METHODS: Adults with severe uncontrolled CRSwNP were randomized

The clinical course of nasal polyps in relation with histological and radiological findings.

BACKGROUND: Nasal polyps (NPs) show distinct characteristics in histologic features with different inflammatory cells and stromal changes, but their clinical implications remain poorly understood. OBJECTIVE: To determine the associations between NP histology, clinical characteristics, radiologic disease burden on osteomeatal unit computed tomography (OMU-CT) findings, and postoperative recurrence. METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed 219 patients who underwent nasal polypectomy. NPs were histologically classified by predominant inflammatory cells (eosinophilic vs. lymphoplasmacytic) and stro

Early recurrent peritonsillar abscess associated with Gardnerella vaginalis following oral sex: A case report.

INTRODUCTION: Peritonsillar abscess (PTA) is usually caused by common oropharyngeal microorganisms. Gardnerella vaginalis, which is primarily associated with bacterial vaginosis, is rarely implicated in oropharyngeal or deep neck infections. CASE PRESENTATION: An otherwise healthy 18-year-old man developed a left PTA that resolved after incision and drainage, 5 days of intravenous ampicillin/sulbactam, and subsequent oral antimicrobial therapy. Initial abscess culture yielded only normal oral flora. Eight days after discharge, he engaged in oral sex with a female partner. Four days later, PTA

Proliferation versus inflammation: Immunohistochemical profiling of feline chronic rhinitis and nasal lymphoma.

Lymphoma is the most common nasal cavity tumor in cats. While most recent research efforts have characterized neoplastic cell markers in feline alimentary lymphoma, only few reports are dedicated to immunohistological features of nasal lymphoid tumors beyond T- or B-cell phenotyping. In comparison, feline lymphoplasmacytic chronic rhinitis represents chronic, progressive lymphoplasmacytic inflammation, causing cyclical tissue damage and repair. Sixty-five cases of lymphoplasmacytic rhinitis and 15 cases of feline diffuse, large cell, immunoblastic nasal lymphoma were selected and submitted for

Imaging Immune Heterogeneity in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma: A Multidimensional Radiomics Perspective.

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is characterized by a distinctive virologic and immunologic profile, in which Epstein-Barr virus-driven immune infiltration coexists with immune escape. This complex interplay gives rise to pronounced immune heterogeneity across spatial, molecular, and temporal dimensions, which critically influences response to immunotherapy and clinical outcomes. However, conventional biopsy-based immune evaluation is limited by sampling bias, invasiveness, and restricted spatial representativeness, precluding comprehensive characterization of the glob

Identifying predictive baseline characteristics for super response to dupilumab in patients with severe uncontrolled asthma.

Dupilumab is an IgG4 human monoclonal antibody which acts upon the type 2 inflammatory pathway. It has been shown to have a significant impact on patients with severe asthma through reducing exacerbations and improving symptom control. A subgroup of patients experiences excellent symptom control and elimination of exacerbations within 12 months of starting dupilumab and are termed super responders. Here we retrospectively identify real-life patients on dupilumab at a single centre to review the baseline characterises comparing those who achieve super response against those that do not. 48 pati

Treatment Persistence and Factors Associated With Discontinuation in Real-World Biologic Therapy for Chronic Rhinosinusitis With Nasal Polyps.

BACKGROUND: Biologic therapies are effective for severe, uncontrolled CRSwNP, yet real-world data on treatment persistence remain limited. METHODS: This retrospective single-center study included 95 adults with CRSwNP who initiated dupilumab (88.4%), mepolizumab, or omalizumab between 2021 and 2025. The primary outcome was persistence with the index biologic therapy. Discontinuation was a permanent cessation, switching, or a ≥ 90-day dosing gap. Switching ended index-biologic persistence but not biologic therapy overall. Response was graded with European Position Paper on Rhinosinusitis and N
