NAD+ metabolic restoration resolves the inflammation-immunocompetence trade-off in lung graft-versus-host disease.

Chronic lung graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) remains difficult to treat, and broad immunosuppression increases infection risk. Single-cell profiling of bronchoalveolar lavage from bronchiolitis obliterans lesions revealed collapse of an epithelial nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) metabolic axis with pathogenic immune-epithelial remodeling, nominating NAD+ restoration as an entry point. Because free NAD+ is poorly cell-permeable and rapidly consumed, we engineered CaNAD+-PGB-LiP (CNAPL), a high-payload NAD+ nanomedici

Multisystemic corynebacteriosis caused by Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis in a captive Brazilian porcupine (Coendouprehensilis).

A captive, 3-year-old, male Brazilian porcupine (Coendou prehensilis) was found dead in its enclosure at a wildlife facility in the USA, with no prior clinical signs reported. At necropsy, the animal was in poor body condition with malocclusion of the maxillary incisors. Numerous tan-to-white, firm nodules, ranging from 0.1 to 1.5 cm in diameter, were present in the lungs, heart, pancreas and right kidney. Histologically, multifocal to coalescing pyogranulomas composed of foamy macrophages, multinucleated giant cells and peripheral lymphoplasmacytic infiltrates surrounded central areas of case

Marine microbial arginase: a metabolic therapeutic strategy for oral squamous cell carcinoma.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) represents a significant clinical burden, with limited advancements in metabolic-targeted therapies. Arginase is a metalloenzyme that plays an essential role in the hydrolysis of L-arginine into urea and L-ornithine. In recent years, arginase enzyme also shows promising role in therapeutic especially in anti-cancer therapy through arginine deprivation therapy (ADT). Among many tumors that are arginine-auxotrophic due to downregulation of ASS1 are hepatocellular carcinoma, melanoma, and subsets of oral cancers, and are therefore susceptible to depletion of ex

When drug repurposing backfires: antagonistic effects of ivermectin on cisplatin therapy in oral cancer.

BACKGROUND: Cisplatin (CIS) remains the gold standard chemotherapeutic agent for the management of oral cancer. However, its clinical efficacy is frequently limited by chemoresistance and dose-dependent toxicities. Ivermectin (IVM), a well-established antiparasitic agent with emerging anticancer properties, has been proposed as a potential adjuvant capable of enhancing the antitumor efficacy of CIS. METHODS: In vitro experiments were conducted on HN9 oral squamous cell carcinoma cells, while OEC normal epithelial cells served as control. The experimental evaluation comprised the MTT assay for

A systematic review and Meta-Analysis: Exploring the efficacy of self-managed treatments for Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD): The role of home exercise and digital therapies.

Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are highly prevalent and frequently associated with chronic pain and functional impairment, forming part of the diagnostic spectrum in cranio-maxillofacial surgery. Scalable, self-managed interventions - including home-exercise programs, psychoeducational strategies, and digitally supported approaches - are increasingly used, yet their pooled effectiveness has not been systematically quantified. A systematic search of PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane CENTRAL identified randomized controlled trials evaluating predominantly self-managed or remotely delivered interve

Beyond the jaw: vocal, oropharyngeal and cognitive-linguistic biomarkers for precision pain phenotyping in TMD.

Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) represent a group of conditions affecting the temporomandibular joint and its associated musculature. TMD is the leading cause of chronic orofacial pain. Current assessment relies heavily on patient-reported outcomes, which capture pain intensity and its impact but provide limited mechanistic or functional insight. This narrative conceptual review proposes a framework for investigating vocal, oropharyngeal, and cognitive-linguistic (VOCL) features as candidate behavioral biomarkers for precision pain phenotyping in TMD. We synthesize the literature from TMD a
