Orthodontic Treatment of a Transmigrating Impacted Lower Canine Using a Digitally Designed and 3D-Printed Lingual Appliance Combined with Corticotomy and Laser Therapy-A Case Report.

Background: Canines play a vital functional and aesthetic role in human dentition, yet impacted canines, particularly in the mandible, are rare and can lead to functional disorders, such as the absence of canine guidance, while negatively affecting a patient's self-esteem. Transmigration of mandibular canines adds complexity to treatment. One method to reduce the treatment time, especially for impacted teeth, is corticotomy-assisted orthodontic therapy (CAOT). Methods: A 13-year-old patient presented with a horizontally impacted lower right canine, positioned below the roots of the lower incis

Comprehensive Management of Impacted Teeth in Cystic Lesions of the Jaws.

Cystic lesions in the jaws are frequently associated with impacted teeth, and include dentigerous cysts, odontogenic keratocysts, unicystic ameloblastoma and adenoid odontogenic tumours. The most common treatment modality is enucleation of cysts with removal of the impacted tooth. Marsupialisation is a more conservative treatment modality than enucleation and is considered the first-line treatment, especially in the initial management of benign cystic lesions during the mixed dentition period. Depending on the size of the lesion, the position of the impacted tooth and the available space, the

Surgical Removal of Impacted Lower Second Molar in Transverse Position: A Case Report.

Introduction: An impacted tooth is one that has not reached the occlusal plane due to a mechanical obstruction, which may include an adjacent tooth, a supernumerary tooth, or an odontoma. Lower third molars are the most frequently impacted teeth, whereas second molars are impacted less often. Currently, diagnostic imaging, such as tomography, is crucial for determining the treatment plan. For the extraction of impacted teeth, a vestibular approach is generally recommended, and for molars, odontectomy prior to tooth luxation and avulsion is advised. Objective: This study was aimed at describing

Combined use of molar distalization and leeway space for class II division 1 malocclusion with odontoma-induced impacted maxillary right lateral incisor in the mixed dentition: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Treatment for Angle's Class II division 1 involves both extraction and non-extraction orthodontic therapy. Managing Class II division 1 malocclusion accompanied by maxillary anterior tooth impaction and anterior crowding in mixed dentition poses a therapeutic dilemma. Premolar extraction may face traction failure in the impacted tooth, resulting in excessive tooth loss, while extracting impacted teeth may compromise occlusion and anterior aesthetics, necessitating future restoration. Molar distalization as a non-extraction approach often face challenges in providing sufficient spac

New Phenotypic Features in FGFR1-Related Osteoglophonic Dysplasia.

Osteoglophonic dysplasia (OGD) is a rare skeletal disorder caused by certain variants in FGFR1. The FGFR1 gene encodes a receptor vital for osteogenesis in the axial and craniofacial skeleton. Key OGD features include craniosynostosis, craniofacial dysmorphism, impacted teeth, rhizomelic shortening, and nonossifying fibromas. Patients may have hypophosphatemia due to high FGF23 levels. We report two OGD patients with the c.1141T > C FGFR1 variant [p.(Cys381Arg)], initially diagnosed with Pfeiffer syndrome. Both showed classic symptoms as well as signs not previously reported, including elevate
