Management of Impacted Premolar With Root Dilaceration Caused by Radicular Cyst in Deciduous Molar: A Case Report.

Radicular cyst is the most common inflammatory odontogenic cyst in the oral cavity, but it rarely occurs in deciduous teeth. Radicular cysts in deciduous teeth can lead to root dilaceration in permanent successor teeth, resulting in impacted permanent teeth. We presented an 11-year-old boy who underwent decompression and drainage of a radicular cyst in deciduous tooth, followed by early orthodontic traction of permanent successor tooth with root dilaceration. The cyst healed successfully, and the impacted premolar was gradually aligned into the dental arch with favorable root development This

Asymptomatic Glandular Odontogenic Cyst of the Right Posterior Maxilla Involving the Maxillary Sinus: Case Report With Literature Review.

Glandular odontogenic cyst (GOC) is a rare jaw cyst with potential for recurrence and aggressive behaviour. We present a case of a 41-year-old male patient with an incidentally discovered, asymptomatic unilocular radiolucency in the right posterior maxilla extending into the maxillary sinus, along with a focused literature review on GOC cases involving the maxillary sinus. Initial radiographic diagnosis suggested an odontogenic keratocyst (OKC). The lesion was surgically enucleated via Caldwell-Luc approach, and histopathology confirmed GOC characterized by mucous cells, epithelial plaques, an

Virtual Surgical Planning-Assisted Mandibular Sagittal Split Osteotomy for Complex Third Molar Extraction.

This case report presents a rare use of mandibular sagittal split osteotomy (MSSO) for the extraction of an impacted third molar, aided by virtual surgical planning. A 32-year-old male presented for third molar removal, but clinical examination revealed the right third molar was not visible intraorally, and access was limited due to restricted mouth opening and tongue mobility. Cone-beam computed tomography confirmed a horizontally impacted right mandibular third molar. Due to the tooth's position and proximity to the inferior alveolar nerve, MSSO was selected. Virtual surgical planning and a

An update on the combined surgical and orthodontic treatment of complex odontoma among growing patients young patients.

Complex odontomas are benign odontogenic hamartomas that frequently hinder the eruption of permanent teeth in growing individuals. Therefore, it is of interest to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of a coordinated surgical and orthodontic treatment protocol in 20 patients aged 8-16 years diagnosed with complex odontomas. Surgical excision was followed by orthodontic intervention to facilitate eruption and alignment of impacted teeth. Successful eruption was observed in 90% of cases within 6-12 months, with favourable alignment outcomes and no recurrence over the 12-month follow-up. These fin

Retrograde Vital Pulp Treatment in External Root Resorption Due to Third Molar Impaction: A Proof-of-Concept and Case Report.

Background/Aim: Third molar impaction with the consequent root resorption of second molars often creates complexities in treatment planning and execution. In the past, the root canal treatment (RCT) of second molars was required in these cases to avoid pulp necrosis and infection. The aim of this paper is to report a surgical/retrograde approach for the maintenance of pulp vitality, proposed as retrograde vital pulp treatment (rVPT), in cases of asymptomatic or reversibly affected teeth with root resorptions caused by impacted adjacent teeth. Methods: A case report on the rVPT of two upper sec

Successful Preservation of a Developing Unerupted Tooth Associated With Dentigerous Cyst in a Child: A Case Report.

Dentigerous cysts (DCs) are odontogenic cysts typically associated with the crowns of unerupted or impacted teeth and are usually discovered when they reach large sizes or get infected. Although common in adults, their occurrence in children are rare. Most cases in children are incidentally discovered on routine radiographic examination of infected deciduous molars. Treatment methods vary based on the size and extend of the lesion, with enucleation and marsupialization being the commonly employed approaches. Despite the variation in techniques, the overall prognosis and treatment outcomes are
