Recent studies have indicated ankylosis, loss of attachment, and external resorption occurring as sequelae of orthodontic movement of impacted teeth when these teeth are ligated around the cervix with wire. The purpose of this study was to record the effects of two commonly employed methods of attachment to impacted teeth--the wire ligation and the direct bond. Nine cases of CEOT are reported. There are seven intra-osseous and two extraosseous tumors. All but one occurred in the mandible. The age range was 20 to 64 years; averaging 34.2 years. The jaws of 368 edentulous patients are evaluated radiographically and the findings presented. Patients were selected at random from those attending the Oral Diagnostic Clinic of the Dental School of the University of Athens. Oral findings on the panoramic tomograms of fifty-two patients with adenomatosis coli (AC) are presented. Osteomatous lesions, embedded teeth, and supernumerary teeth were found more frequently in AC patients than in a normal population. The osteomatous lesions were found in more than 80 percent of the AC patients, and the average number of such lesions per patient was 4.7. A case of bilateral subcondylar impacted mandibular third molars is presented. Both impactions had associated dentigerous cyst, one of which was severely infected with Serratia marcescens and had a draining sinus tract. The patient also had uncontrolled diabetes mellitus and iron deficiency anemia, which altered her response to surgical treatment. This case illustrates the necessity for early identification of infective organisms and determining their antibiotic sensitivity, as well as the need for prophylactic removal of impacted teeth to prevent complications such as those presented.

A retrospective investigation on the eruption of impacted teeth after surgical treatment of odontoma has been carried out. A total of 218 operative removals of odontomas took place in the Department of Oral Surgery, Royal Dental College in the years 1952-1974; 49 of these were localized directly in relation to an impacted tooth and were considered as the cause of impaction. Surgical exposure may be an integral part of orthodontic treatment of impacted teeth. In some cases the surgical procedure alone results in eruption and alignment of such teeth. The nature of the mechanism that starts concomitantly with the removal of covering tissues is not known. Six thousand seven hundred eighty panoramic radiographs were screened to monitor the incidence of normal and pathologic findings. Oral health and dental treatment needs were investigated in 50 randomly selected long-term medicine patients admitted to The Glostrup Hospital, University of Copenhagen, Glostrup, Denmark. For orthodontic and gnathologic reasons, impacted teeth in adolescents should not be extracted but rather placed in their appropriate positions. This article deals with the surgical aspects of a combined surgical and orthodontic methods for incorporating these teeth into the dental arch. The procedure for lifting the gingival tissue to expose the impacted tooth and the application of a plastic attachment via "direct bonding" were described.

"Fatigue on Rest", headache, vertigo and the feeling of loss of balance, blurred vision, nausea, tension and irritability, were found to be prevalent amongst patients who had locally asymptomatic, unerupted impacted teeth. A comparative pressure sign was developed, which, when positive, confirmed the relationship between the impacted teeth and the medical symptoms. Removal of the impactions resulted in the alleviation of the symptoms. Stress and psychogenic factors are considered as trigger mechanisms, rather than as basic causes of the symptoms.
