Comparative Evaluation of Composite Resin Bonded with Novel and Conventional Bonding Agents for Cost Effectiveness, Retention, and Secondary Caries: A Clinical Study.

INTRODUCTION: Restoring aesthetics in primary teeth presents a significant challenge for dentists due to factors such as thin enamel, unique pulpal anatomy, and the small size of these teeth. Discolouration, malformation, extensive caries, or damage from trauma in primary teeth often raise considerable concerns for both patients and their parents. Composite resin has become one of the most popular and reliable tooth-colour restorative materials, offering excellent aesthetic outcomes. AIM: To evaluate the cost effectiveness, retention, and secondary caries of universal adhesive Tetric N-Bond V

Gut oralisation signatures in Parkinson's disease: an integrative multi-study analysis.

BACKGROUND: Parkinson's disease (PD) compromises oral hygiene and oral health, potentially increasing oral bacterial input to the gut. Whether PD is associated with reproducible faecal enrichment of oral disease-linked taxa remains unclear. OBJECTIVE: To determine whether oral disease-linked taxa are enriched in the faecal microbiota of individuals with PD. METHODS: We conducted a pooled re-analysis of 23 faecal 16S rRNA datasets, comprising 3,594 PD and control samples. eHOMD was used to resolve oral-associated taxa, including caries/endodontic- and periodontitis-linked taxa. Tumor Necrosis Factor-Alpha Inhibitors: Oral Health and Orthodontic Considerations.

Autoimmune diseases affect approximately 4.6% of the US population and are frequently managed with immunomodulatory therapies, including tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) inhibitors. These biologic agents, such as infliximab, adalimumab, etanercept, golimumab, and certolizumab pegol, target TNF-α, a key cytokine involved in inflammatory signaling and bone remodeling. While TNF-α inhibitors have demonstrated efficacy in reducing disease activity across a range of autoimmune conditions, their impact on oral health and orthodontic treatment remains underexplored. Clinical studies suggest that T

SLC4A9 deficiency is involved in Sjögren's syndrome and enamel defects through RPS27-triggered ribosomal stress.

Xerostomia, a salivary gland disorder affecting up to 30% of adults, compromises oral homeostasis by reducing salivary flow and buffering capacity. Amelogenesis imperfecta is a hereditary condition characterized by defective enamel formation and mineralization, with a prevalence ranging from 1 in 700 to 1 in 14,000 children worldwide. Although xerostomia has been associated with increased susceptibility to dental caries and subsequent enamel damage, its relationship with amelogenesis imperfecta remains unclear, and no shared molecular pathway has been causally linked to both hyposalivation and

Dens invaginatus: a review and case series.

Dens invaginatus is a dental anomaly resulting in an abnormal tooth morphology, most commonly affecting the permanent dentition. An associated infolding of the outer enamel organ results in structural pocketing and increased susceptibility to dental disease. Clinical sequalae of affected teeth may include dental caries, pulpal pathology, devitalisation, discolouration, localised periodontal pocketing or increased tooth mobility. Early diagnosis is therefore essential in the delivery of effective prevention and informed treatment planning. Clinicians should be aware of the diverse clinical and

Polyphenols as Natural Therapeutics for Dental Infections and Oral Inflammation: Mechanisms and Clinical Perspectives.

Oral diseases such as dental caries, periodontitis, denture-related stomatitis, and oral mucositis are prevalent global health concerns primarily driven by microbial dysbiosis and chronic inflammation. Conventional treatments, including antibiotics and mechanical plaque control, have limitations due to antimicrobial resistance and adverse effects. Polyphenols, a diverse class of bioactive phytochemicals, exhibit promising antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties that can be leveraged for oral health management. This review explores the therapeutic potential of polyphenols i

Oral Health and Drug Use Among People Experiencing Homelessness: A Community-Based Cross-Sectional Study.

INTRODUCTION: The health vulnerability that homeless individuals encounter, in which poor nutrition, irregular hygiene behaviours, social exclusion, and limited access to preventive dental care converge with high rates of substance use, is a major factor in the acceleration of oral disease progression. Xerostomia, bruxism, poor diet, delayed care-seeking, and trauma are other ways that drug use exacerbates oral health issues, but the extent to which these interactions occur in the homeless population is not well quantified in low- and middle-income countries. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study
