Clinical efficacy of bioactive glass in periodontal regeneration: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Periodontal disease leads to progressive destruction of tooth-supporting tissues. Conventional therapies, such as open flap debridement, control inflammation but provide limited regeneration. Bioactive glass (BG), a bioactive and osteoconductive material, has emerged as a promising regenerative agent in periodontal therapy. This meta-analysis evaluated the clinical efficacy of BG in reducing probing depth (PD) and improving clinical attachment level (CAL) in periodontal lesions. A systematic search of Embase, PubMed, and Cochrane Library up to April 2025 identified randomized controlled trials

Mortality risk and loss in life expectancy associated with poor oral health: a population-based epidemiologic follow-up study.

Previous studies have shown that oral health is associated with mortality. However, evidence is lacking on the association between comprehensive oral health indicators and mortality and life expectancy. We used data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 1999 to 2018 (adults aged ≥40 years). Oral health was assessed based on tooth loss, periodontitis, self-rated oral health, and the decayed, missing, and filled teeth (DMFT) index. Mortality status was linked to the National Death Index up to December 31, 2019. The Cox proportional hazards model was used to estimate the

An Efficient Detection Platform Based on Mesoporous Au@Cr2O3 Particles with Schwarz P Surface for Precise Periodontitis Metabolite Profiling.

Matrix materials with high desorption and ionization efficiency are crucial for the sensitive and accurate metabolite profiling in matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS). Herein, we develop an efficient detection platform based on Au nanoparticles decorated mesoporous Cr2O3 (Au@mCr2O3) particles with a single primitive continuous structure (i.e., Schwarz P surface) as the matrix. Owing to the low-tortuosity mesoporous pathways and customized chemical composition, the Au@mCr2O3 exhibits high-efficiency light absorption and electron transfer, showing great poten

Modified apexification with MTA and non-vital bleaching as a comprehensive case management of a necrotic immature tooth: A case report.

BACKGROUND: Apexification for immature permanent teeth with necrotic pulp aims to close the root end without causing canal wall thickening or continuous root lengthening. Traditionally done using calcium hydroxide (CH), recently bioactive materials such as Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) have become a popular alternative due to its superior sealing abilities. While Regenerative endodontic Procedures (REP) offer potential for root development, their outcome remains unpredictable. This case report presents a modified apexification technique using MTA to facilitate continued root end development
