Coexistence of a retroesophageal right subclavian artery with a left maxillary artery medial to the mandibular nerve.

This case report describes the coexistence of a retroesophageal right subclavian artery and left maxillary artery which passed deep to the mandibular nerve. An 88-year-old woman died of acute heart failure, and the postmortem revealed that the right subclavian artery originated from the aortic arch as the last branch at the level of the fourth thoracic vertebra, then passed between the esophagus and the vertebral column. The artery then ascended right superiorly and passed behind the anterior scalene muscle. The right vertebral artery arose from the retroesophageal right subclavian artery and

Unlocking Hidden Teeth: A Pediatric Case of Surgical Exposure of Maxillary Central Incisors.

Failure in the eruption of the maxillary incisor necessitates a precise diagnosis and treatment regimen. Impaction can have a number of causes such as physical obstacles in the eruption path, discrepancy in the length of the dental arch, and tooth anomaly. Delayed eruption of anterior teeth can result in a number of issues such as malocclusion and psychological discomfort. In many cases, if the intervention is not done at an early stage, complex orthodontic intervention is required after surgical exposure to enable appropriate eruption. This case report is of a nine-year-old child with unerupt

Management of Class III Malocclusion with Microimplant-Assisted Rapid Palatal Expansion (MARPE) and Mandible Backward Rotation (MBR): A Case Report.

Class III malocclusion prevalence varies significantly among racial groups, with the highest prevalence observed in southeast Asian populations at 15.80%. These malocclusions often involve maxillary retrognathism, mandibular prognathism, or both, accompanied by maxillary constriction and crossbites. Comprehensive treatment should address anteroposterior, transverse, and vertical imbalances. Microimplant-assisted rapid palatal expansion (MARPE) has shown high success rates for transverse maxillary expansion in late adolescents and adults, presenting a viable alternative to surgically-assisted r

Investigating the dynamic relationship of sleep-disordered breathing, orthodontic treatment needs, and dental esthetics in the general population.

BACKGROUND: Sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) is characterized by upper airway dysfunction and is linked to severe health issues. Individuals with SDB have distinct craniofacial morphology for which orthodontists are most suitable for the management due to their dental expertise. AIM: This study aims to discern key differences in dental parameters between individuals with and without SDB. METHODS: The present study is a cross-sectional observational study conducted for 12 months. Out of 70 participants, 35 were placed in the SDB group as per the Berlin questionnaire (BQ) and 35 in the control

Associations across 22 dental and craniovertebral anomalies or variations, sagittal skeletal relationships, and vertical growth patterns: a comprehensive epidemiological study of 43 dentoskeletal traits.

INTRODUCTION: Despite researchers' recent interest in identifying links between some dental and craniovertebral abnormalities, there are many important, unassessed gaps in our knowledge of this matter. In addition, previous samples were small. This large study aimed to examine, for the first time, the occurrence/severity of numerous dental and skeletal anomalies or variations and their correlations with each other and with growth patterns. METHODS: This epidemiological study was conducted on pretreatment radiographs of 1194 patients from 3 cities (815 females). Skeletal sagittal skeletal rela

Trans-mastoid anchorage as a novelty in glenoid fossa reconstruction for hemifacial microsomia with agenesis of zygomatic arch and external acoustic meatus-Technical note with a case illustration.

Total joint reconstruction (TJR) has become the most preferred method of reconstruction in recent years for hemifacial microsomia (HFM). This requires meticulous planning for the glenoid fossa and ramus prosthesis along with the arch in certain indications. TJR in a type V HFM is extremely challenging due to agenesis/hypolasia of the zygoma and arch which compromises anchorage of the glenoid prosthesis. Conventional options used for such indications incorporate extended designs for the fossa. However, the two designs used commonly are associated with limitations; (i) the temporal extension is
