Cephalometric evaluation of maxillary central incisor crown-root morphology in different skeletal malocclusion.

OBJECTIVES: To compare the collum angle (CA) and labial surface angle (LSA) of the maxillary central incisors across different skeletal malocclusion classes and between genders. METHODS: This cross-sectional study screened lateral cephalogram of 504 patients above 18 years seeking for orthodontic consultation. Skeletal classification was based on ANB angle, Wits appraisal and Beta angle; Class II cases were further divided by maxillary incisor inclination to the SN plane. Landmarks were digitised using tpsDig, and measurements were obtained via a custom Python script. CA and LSA were compared

Treatment of Class III malocclusion using l-shaped miniplate assisted skeletally anchored facemask therapy - A technical note.

Miniplates are routinely employed as an integral component of skeletally anchored facemask therapy for correction of growing Class III malocclusions. However, challenges are often encountered with the conventionally used I-shaped miniplates which include the possibility of soft tissue overgrowth over the unfavourably bent distal extension or cut end of hole of miniplate and slippage of elastics from improperly directed cut end of circular head. Present work describes novel application of l-shaped miniplate at lateral nasal wall of maxilla for accomplishing effective maxillary protraction, wher

Cross-cultural adaptation and validation of the Arabic version of the Malocclusion Impact Scale for Early Childhood (MIS-EC/Ar).

BACKGROUND: Malocclusion is a highly prevalent oral disease in children. It could detrimentally affect their oral health-related quality of life (OHR-QoL). The Malocclusion Impact Scale for Early Childhood (MIS-EC) is a newly developed scale for the assessment of OHR-QoL in this population aged 3-5 years-old. The aim of this study is to translate and validate an Arabic version of the MIS-EC scale (MIS-EC/Ar). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the MIS-EC/Ar scale were performed conforming to relevant WHO guidelines. A sample of mothers/caregivers of children a

Geometric morphometrics based diagnostic model for Skeletal Class III patients.

BACKGROUND: Skeletal Class III (SCIII) malocclusion represents a heterogeneous cluster of craniofacial anomalies characterised by a sagittal mesial discrepancy. It is among the most challenging orthodontic conditions to treat because there is no standardisation regarding subphenotype classification or treatment efficacy prediction. This study aimed to develop a data-driven model to identify novel clinically relevant SCIII subphenotypes, contributing to tailored treatment protocols. METHODS: A clinical subphenotypic classification model for SCIII was developed using 12 annotated craniofacial l

Clinical advances in curve of Spee assessment: Deep learning for automatic tooth landmark detection in Invisalign.

INTRODUCTION: The curve of Spee (COS) is a key indicator of occlusal function and orthodontic outcomes. Its measurement traditionally relies on manual landmark identification from intraoral scans, which is time-consuming and operator-dependent. This study introduces a deep learning-based method for fully automated COS assessment based on intraoral scan data, aiming to improve measurement efficiency and support the evaluation of the predictability of COS leveling in patients with varying vertical skeletal patterns undergoing Invisalign treatment (Align Technology, Santa Clara, Calif). METHODS:
