CircRHBDD1(4,5) drives malignant progression of oral squamous cell carcinoma by enhancing DKK1 mRNA stability through facilitating m6A-dependent IGF2BP2 binding.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is a malignant tumor arising from the oral mucosa and is highly prevalent in Southeast Asia and the Pacific region. Recurrence and metastasis significantly contribute to poor clinical outcomes, highlighting the importance of understanding the underlying molecular mechanisms. Circular RNAs (circRNAs), a class of covalently closed non-coding RNAs, have emerged as key regulators of tumor development and progression. However, their roles in OSCC remain largely unexplored. In this study, we identified for the first time that circRHBDD1(4,5) (hsa_circ_0058493, a 6

Responses of Anti-Apoptotic Molecules to EAgNPs and EAgNPs Plus L-Buthionine-Sulfoximine in Human Tongue Cancer Cells.

Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have emerged as a promising nanoplatform for oncological intervention, yet their clinical translation is severely hampered by systemic toxicities associated with high effective doses, while the underlying mechanisms governing their interactions with cancer cell pro-survival cascades remain poorly defined. In this study, we synthesized and fully characterized green tea polyphenol (-)-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG)-derived silver nanoparticles (EAgNPs), in which EGCG acts as the reducing and capping agent. EAgNPs were confirmed to be highly dispersed, stable metal

Indole-3-Propionic Acid Disrupts Glycolytic Adaptation and Promotes Oxidative Stress-Associated Injury in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) shows aggressive invasion, frequent recurrence, and marked metabolic adaptability. Microbial tryptophan metabolites are increasingly recognized as potential modulators of cancer-related signaling; however, the direct role of indole-3-propionic acid (IPA) in OSCC remains poorly defined. This study examined whether IPA suppresses malignant fitness in HSC-3 and SCC-25 cells while using OKF6/TERT-1, an immortalized human oral keratinocyte cell line, as a non-malignant comparator where biologically appropriate. HSC-3 and SCC-25 cells were treated with vehicle or

Association of Age, Cephalic Index, and Feeding Method with Dental Severity in Rabbits.

A variety of factors which might potentially affect the severity score of rabbits' teeth were investigated. These included the age, breed and gender of the animal as well as its cephalic index and dietary factors such as type of bowl feed and availability of hay or fresh grass. Age and cephalic index values were found to be significantly associated with the severity of dental disease, but the rabbit's gender and breed did not significantly affect this. The type of bowl feed also had an effect. However, the frequency of access to hay, fresh grass or grazing did not significantly affect this sco

Erosion Potential of Commercial Fluoride-Free Mouthwashes on Dental Hard Tissues.

PURPOSE: Mouthwashes often present acidic pH, which raises concerns about their potential contribution to erosive tooth wear. This study evaluated the erosive potential of commercial fluoride-free mouthwashes using a screening method. METHODS: A convenience sample of 81 different mouthwashes was evaluated for their erosion potential (International Organization for Standardization, ISO/FDIS 28888:2013). This method measured the pH changes (ΔpH) of 25 mL of calcium phosphate solution (baseline pH 5.05 ± 0.05; mean ± standard deviation) once the test mouthwash was added (0.25 mL). Three citric a
