Lamellodiscus louiseuzeti n. sp. (Monopisthocotyla: Diplectanidae: Lamellodiscinae): a parasite of Chaetodon hoefleri (Teleostei, Chaetodontidae) with distinct attachment organ morphology.

During a study on representatives of Diplectanidae (Monopisthocotyla) infecting Chaetodon hoefleri, a marine teleost from Senegal, we collected individuals belonging to a species of Lamellodiscinae, which showed a unique arrangement of the haptoral lamellodiscs, so far unreported in the literature, with the first lamella of the ventral lamellodisc open anteriorly, unlike the dorsal lamellodisc, which is closed. Due to this arrangement, we describe the species Lamellodiscus louiseuzeti n. sp.. Apart from the morphology of the lamellodiscs, the new species differs from its congeners by having a

Immune checkpoint inhibitor-related pancreatitis with fulminant type 1 diabetes mellitus: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are widely used in tumor therapy, and the immune-related adverse events (irAEs) they induce can involve multiple organs. As an organ with both endocrine and exocrine functions, pancreatic involvement may manifest as acute pancreatitis, new-onset diabetes mellitus, or even a combination of both. Among these, ICI-induced acute pancreatitis concurrent with fulminant type 1 diabetes mellitus (FT1DM) is extremely rare but highly critical and easily missed in clinical practice. CASE PRESENTATION: A 59-year-old male patient with squamous cell carcinoma

Mutant SOD1 expressed by oligodendrocytes aggregates in myelinic nanochannels and accelerates disease progression in familial ALS mice.

UNLABELLED: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a highly debilitating and fatal disease characterized by the progressive loss of motor neurons. Reduced oligodendroglial support has been implicated in ALS progression but remains mechanistically unexplained. Here, using a mutant superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1-G37R) mouse model of familial ALS, Cre-mediated excision of the mutant SOD1 gene within the oligodendrocyte lineage prior to myelin compaction is shown to slow disease onset, improve motor performance, and prolong survival. In contrast, silencing mutant SOD1 expression within oligodendrocy

ZhiFangDanTai: Fine-Tuning Graph-Based Retrieval-Augmented Generation Model for Traditional Chinese Medicine Formula.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulas play a significant role in treating epidemics and complex diseases. Existing models for TCM utilize traditional algorithms or deep learning techniques to analyze formula relationships, yet lack comprehensive results, such as complete formula compositions and detailed explanations. Although recent efforts have used TCM instruction datasets to fine-tune Large Language Models (LLMs) for explainable formula generation, existing datasets lack sufficient details, such as the roles of the formula's sovereign, minister, assistant, courier; efficacy; contrain

Final Tongue Size in the Treatment of Macroglossia Associated With Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome: Review of 29 Cases.

Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome (BWS) is a rare congenital disorder whose main clinical feature is macroglossia. This frequent manifestation may impair respiratory, feeding, speech, and orofacial developmental functions. When significant functional and/or aesthetic repercussions are evident, surgical excision is the primary management approach, with several techniques described. In this study, we analyzed medical records from 29 patients diagnosed with BWS and macroglossia, and evaluated 26 cases of partial glossectomy performed between 2015 and 2025. Indications, surgical technique, postoperative

A digital accessory for an implant guide to provide sufficient exposure of the surgical area: A dental technique.

Surgical guides play a crucial role in achieving accurate implant placement, yet their physical presence often obstructs the clinician's view of the surgical site. Conventional methods for improving access using sutures or surgical instruments frequently introduce additional tools into the operative field, potentially hindering the surgical workflow. This technique article describes a straightforward yet effective modification to conventional implant guides by integrating retractor arms and attachment hooks on the buccal and lingual aspects. The arms gently displace the cheek and tongue, while

Combined transcriptome and function analyses of peripheral blood white cells highlight the disease-resistant mechanism of CD79a/CD79b in Chinese tongue sole (Cynoglossus semilaevis).

Peripheral blood white cells are a vital component of the immune system and serve an important anti-bacterial function in teleosts; however, the molecular mechanism of peripheral blood white cells and B lymphocyte marker genes (CD79) has not been resolved in these fish. Therefore, peripheral blood white cells were isolated from Chinese tongue sole (Cynoglossus semilaevis) and stimulated with LPS for 6 h and 12 h to identify differentially expressed genes enriched in immune-related pathways under stimulation. A protein interaction map of the DEGs was constructed, identifying several immune-rela

Combination of ultrasonography and MRI for preoperative prediction of lymph node metastasis in tongue squamous cell carcinoma: An exploratory study.

Preoperative depth of invasion (DOI) is a critical predictor of cervical lymph node metastasis (CLNM) in tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC). Ultrasonography (US) offers high accuracy for shallow tumors, whereas magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) provides superior visualization of deeper structures. However, each modality has limitations. This retrospective, exploratory study aimed to investigate a combined strategy leveraging the complementary strengths of both modalities to improve preoperative CLNM prediction. The study included 46 patients with TSCC who underwent radical surgery between Se
