BACKGROUND: MRS/MFS is a rare multisystem disorder with a poor prognosis. The high mortality rate of this syndrome is related to the severity of the associated gastrointestinal, pancreatic, and hepatobiliary conditions, as most of them are not amenable to conventional medical and surgical treatments.
METHODS: We report the case of a Romani girl with all the key clinical features of MRS/MFS, and a review of cases reported in the literature. Our patient is a newborn from consanguineous parents who presented duodenal atresia, hypoplastic pancreas, gallbladder agenesis, and neonatal diabetes. Giv

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Cholelithiasis is the benign bile pathology with major prevalence. A rare condition has been described, when a stone migrates through the duodenum causing small bowel obstruction (SBO), it's known as Bouveret syndrome, and it's attributed to almost 5% of SBO. Just 2% of the cases present with the migration of the stone through a fistula between gastric chamber and gallbladder, with limited reports in the literature.
CLINICAL FINDINGS: We present a case of an 87-year-old male with Bouveret syndrome and a cholecystogastric fistula with a stone in the gastric chamber

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Bouveret syndrome is a rare condition characterised by gastric outlet obstruction secondary to a gallstone fistulating into the proximal duodenum or pylorus. Although rare, this condition carries a high mortality rate and no current standardised guidelines for management.
CASE PRESENTATION: We present a case of a patient in their 60s with recurrent small bowel obstruction secondary to a cholecysto-duodenal fistula and large gallstone which became impacted in the fourth part of the duodenum. The patient had a P-POSSUM Score of 14% mortality and 60% morbidity risk,

Bouveret syndrome is a subtype of gallstone ileus, wherein a calculus becomes entrapped in the duodenum via a cholecystocolic fistula, leading to gastric outlet obstruction. Due to the non-specific symptoms the patients present with, a diagnosis is reliant on computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or direct endoscopic visualisation. We report a case of Bouveret syndrome and review current literature, outlining the aetiopathogenesis and management strategies of this condition.

Intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMN) are mucin producing tumors which arise from epithelial cells of the main pancreatic duct, pancreatic branch ducts, or both. They are characterized by mucin-producing columnar cells, papillary ductal proliferation, cyst formation, and varying degrees of dysplasia. IPMNs are classified as main duct or branch duct based upon the pancreatic duct anatomy which the IPMN is arising from. Additionally, they can be classified based on their histologic subtypes, which carry varying associations with dysplasia and/or malignancy. Many patients have incidenta

INTRODUCTION: Gastric outlet obstruction is an uncommon complication of surgical treatment of aortoiliac occlusive disease with aortofemoral bypass. The most frequent presenting feature of duodenal erosion due to aortic synthetic graft is upper gastrointestinal bleeding, which can range from a minor "herald" bleed to exsanguinating hemorrhage.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 64-year-old male patient with an aortofemoral Dacron bypass due to aortoiliac occlusive disease TASC II D with a chronic graft infection required emergency resection of the right limb of the Dacron graft two years ago. The patient d

BACKGROUND: The duodenal «diverticulization» is a surgical technique described by Berne and colleagues in 1968 for the treatment of combined duodenal pancreatic injuries. It consisted of closure of the duodenal injury by suture and tube duodenostomy, gastric antrectomy with end-to-side isoperistaltic Billroth II gastrojejunostomy, and abdominal drainage. As evidenced from the literature in few reports, this technique has also been adopted for lateral duodenal lacerations in non traumatic conditions. Most biliary disease may be responsible for duodenal injury.

We present the unique case of a gastropericardial fistula with a rare, delayed presentation in a man in his 70s. Relevant surgeries include Watchman Left Atrial Appendage Closure device placement 1 year prior to arrival and gastric bypass surgery 20 years prior to arrival. The patient presented to the emergency department with weakness, diarrhoea and left knee pain. He was admitted for cellulitis of the left lower extremity, prosthetic septic arthritis of the left knee and group G streptococcus bacteraemia. His hospital course was complicated by acute chest pain and dyspnoea. Imaging revealed

PURPOSE: Laparoscopic duodenum-preserving total pancreatic head resection (LDPPHRt) is used for treating benign or low-grade malignant tumors of the pancreatic head. However, preservation of the duodenum and biliary tract integrity remains challenging. We present a new approach for LDPPHRt and evaluate its feasibility and safety.
METHODS: From April 2020 to December 2020, 30 patients successfully underwent LDPPHRt using the intracapsular approach in our center. Their medical records were reviewed for relevant clinical characteristics, pathologic findings, postoperative complications, and surv

A 74-year-old male presented with melena and fatigue, without fever or abdominal pain. Laboratory examination revealed anemia, leukocytosis, elevated C-reactive protein levels and conjugated hyperbilirubinemia with elevated liver enzymes. Upper endoscopy identified blood in the stomach and duodenum and a 6 mm hole in the anterosuperior surface of the duodenal bulb with spontaneous drainage of a bloody brownish content. The mucosa surrounding the hole was normal and there was a discrete mucosal flap that throbbed with air insufflation. Abdominal computed tomography identified a fistulous tract

INTRODUCTION: and Importance: Gastric diverticula (GDs) are typically formed on the posterior wall due to congenital or acquired causes. Although diverticula are not uncommon throughout the gastrointestinal tract, GDs are the least common type, and their presence in the prepyloric area is extremely rare. GDs are frequently asymptomatic but can present with serious complications that require surgical intervention in rare cases.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 54-year-old woman with a history of morbid obesity, hyperlipidemia, and diabetes mellitus (DM) presents with acute onset left upper quadrant (LUQ)

Gastric diverticula (GD) are the least prevalent type of gastrointestinal diverticula and are extremely uncommon anatomical anomalies in general. Although the majority of GD cases are asymptomatic and are identified by chance during normal diagnostic testing, they can manifest with a variety of symptoms. In some instances they can lead to life-threatening problems, necessitating surgical intervention. The majority of gastric diverticula go unnoticed. Upper abdomen pain, nausea, emesis, and dyspepsia are the most prevalent symptoms. Patients with GD can present with dramatic symptoms such as ma

Gastric diverticula (GD) are the rarest of the gastrointestinal diverticula and are characterized by protrusions of the stomach wall, that can either be congenital or acquired. Despite the fact that the majority of GD are asymptomatic and are detected inadvertently during endoscopy or gastrointestinal (GI) series studies, they might present with a variety of symptoms, including abdominal pain, vomiting, and weight loss. In mild symptomatic instances, GD is treated conservatively with antacids, but surgical excision is indicated for refractory gastric diverticula with persistent symptoms or com

Gastrointestinal duplications can be found in all parts of the gastrointestinal tract. Duplications of the stomach comprise 2-8% of all duplications and are mostly diagnosed during the first year of life. We present a case of a gastric duplication cyst in a 29-year-old female, presenting with epigastric pain and vomiting. Preoperative diagnosis was assumed to be pyloric stenosis. Intraoperatively, a large mass that was attached to the greater curvature was found. Histopathology results were consistent with gastric duplication cyst.

Gastric diverticula are quite rare and can be either acquired or congenital. Resection is recommended when the diverticula are large (>4 cm), PPI therapy does not relieve symptoms, and/or complications arise. We present a case of a patient with a long-standing history of symptoms related to a congenital gastric diverticulum that had been found incidentally on imaging during a workup for possible small bowel obstruction. The patient underwent a successful laparoscopic, robotic assisted surgical resection of the congenital gastric diverticulum with complete relief of his symptoms.
