This is a case report of an interstitial hernia following previous transverse loop colostomy closure. There are no reported cases in the literature of gangrenous gall-bladder as the content of an interstitial hernia. This condition can present as a diagnostic challenge. We present a case with a previous reversal of a colostomy in the right upper quadrant presenting with a short history of a right iliac fossa mass and tenderness. Richter hernia (partial enterocele) is the protrusion and/or strangulation of only part of the circumference of the intestine's antimesenteric border through a rigid small defect of the abdominal wall. The first case was reported in 1606 by Fabricius Hildanus. The first definition of partial enterocele was given by August Gottlieb Richter in 1785. UNLABELLED: Bull horn lesions are frequent in the Latin world due to spectacles involving these animals. These wounds have special characteristics that distinguish them from all other lesions.
MATERIAL AND METHOD: A retrospective analysis of the medical records of patients with bull horn lesions admitted to our service between January 1978 and October 2005 was performed.

Non-operative management by pressure reduction is now the preferred treatment for uncomplicated intussusception in children. However, in many developing countries, laparotomy is routinely performed for such cases. This is a retrospective anlaysis of 24 children who had operative reduction of intussusception. The age range was 3 months--10 years (median 7 months) and duration of symptoms 12 hours--7 days (median 2 days). The main features were abdominal pain, vomiting and rectal bleeding. A 43 year old female was admitted with features of intestinal obstruction. On laparotomy, a strangulated Richter's hernia with an abscess within an incisional hernial sac through a previous lower segment caesarean section scar was diagnosed. Resection and anastomosis was performed. Strangulated Richter's hernia is a rare entity making up 8.3% of all strangulated hernias. There have been reports of Richter's hernia with strangulation in inguinal hernia, femoral hernia and port hernia after laparoscopic surgery but none so far in an incisional hernia.

From November 1990 to April 1994 we attempted laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) in 1,788 consecutive patients. This report presents a summary of 93 bowel resections which were considered to be for preventable causes and performed during 5 years (1984-1988) in our Hospital in Zaria. These resections constituted 57% of the total bowel resections performed in that period and were responsible for an annual resection rate of 19 "avoidable" bowel resections.
