Eighteen young native male and female goats were divided into 3 equal groups. Kerosene was given to Groups 1, 2 and 3 as single doses of 10, 20 or 40 ml/kg bw respectively. Clinical signs In-Group 1 were mild behavioral changes and in Group 2 were mild to moderate bloat, coughing and behavioral changes. None of the goats of Groups 1 and 2 died. Goats of Group 3 had severe signs of poisoning and died within 4 h to 11 d after dosing with clinical signs of severe bloat, frequent coughing, vomiting, and expelling of kerosene from the mouth and nose. OBJECTIVES: to evaluate the feasibility and preliminary results at 1 year of subintimal angioplasty of tibial occlusions in critical limb ischaemia (CLI).
MATERIAL: from December 1997 to December 1999, we intended to treat 36 patients and 40 limbs by subintimal angioplasty of occlusions of tibial vessels. Thirty-one had gangrene or ulceration and nine had rest pain. Twenty-seven occlusions were more than 10 cm, 10 were 5 to 10 cm and three were less than 5 cm in length. PURPOSE: The long-term patency for infrapopliteal bypass grafting with prosthetic material is less than optimal. Our experience demonstrates a 40% patency at 2 years for these grafts. A 43-year-old woman presented with acute abdominal pain and signs of ileus. CT scan of the abdomen showed hepatic portal venous gas. At surgery, a long segment of gangrenous bowel extending from the jejunum to the proximal hemicolon was found. The cause was superior mesenteric artery occlusion. The aetiology, imaging features and clinical significance of hepatic portal venous gas are discussed.

The objective of this study was to assess the value of lower limb revascularization and free flap transfer (LLR-FFT) in the management of critical leg ischemia and major tissue loss. A total of 29 consecutive patients with critically ischemic leg and major tissue loss underwent 24 simultaneous and 6 staged LLR-FFT procedures. The vacuum-assisted closure (VAC) system is used for the treatment of complicated wounds and large tissular dehiscences. The study aim was to report a case of perineal gangrene extended to the abdominal wall in a 53-year old woman. We report a case of Fournier's gangrene. An 83-year-old man underwent biopsy of left inguinal tumor as an outpatient. Pathological diagnosis was malignant lymphoma (diffuse large cell type). Three weeks later, he developed reddened scrotal swelling accompanied with high fever (> 39 degrees C). On admission, antibiotic chemotherapy was initiated.
