We herein report a case of peliosis hepatis induced by tamoxifen therapy in breast cancer. A woman in her 50s underwent multimodal treatment including surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and endocrine therapy. One year after surgery, imaging revealed a 3-cm hepatic lesion. The tumor marker levels were mostly normal. A biopsy showed blood-filled cavities without fibrosis, and CD34 staining suggested collapsed sinusoidal structures, leading to a diagnosis of peliosis hepatis. After the discontinuation of tamoxifen treatment, the lesion gradually decreased in size. Although tamoxifen-induced pelios

Peliosis hepatis (PH) is a rare benign vascular liver disorder that may closely mimic hepatic metastases on imaging, posing a significant diagnostic challenge in oncology. We report the case of a 54-year-old patient with left-sided nonmetastatic colon adenocarcinoma (pT4N0) treated surgically and receiving adjuvant Folinic acid, Fluorouracil, and Oxaliplatin chemotherapy for high-risk pathological features. During follow-up, contrast-enhanced computed tomography revealed a dysmorphic liver with a thin-walled lesion in segments II-III, highly suspicious for secondary hepatic involvement in the

Peliosis hepatis (PH) is a rare condition that is characterized by a tumor-like liver lesion with blood-filled cavities in the liver parenchyma. When used solely, imaging modalities cannot differentiate PH from liver carcinoma, metastatic deposits and liver abscess. We herein present a case of a 37-year-old male patient presenting for recurrent bouts of abdominal pain with no history of liver diseases or recent drug usage. Ultrasound, CT scan and MRI demonstrated the presence of a liver lesion but failed to make an accurate diagnosis of the lesion. An ultrasound-guided liver biopsy followed by

BACKGROUND: Peliosis hepatis is a rare vascular disorder characterized by blood-filled cystic spaces within the hepatic parenchyma. It is often asymptomatic and may radiologically mimic hepatic adenoma or other hypervascular liver tumors, making preoperative diagnosis challenging.
CASE REPORT: We report a 28-year-old female who presented with mild abdominal pain. An incidental liver mass was detected on ultrasound. Laboratory investigations were unremarkable. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography revealed a large hypervascular mass involving segments III and IV of the liver, suggestive of hep

Liver vascular diseases include portal vein thrombosis (with or without cirrhosis), portal-sinusoidal vascular disease, Budd-Chiari syndrome, hepatic sinusoidal obstruction syndrome, non-obstructive sinusoidal dilatation and peliosis hepatis, visceral artery aneurysms, and hepatic arteriovenous fistulas. Importantly, with the exception of portal vein thrombosis in cirrhosis, the others are rare conditions. A substantial body of evidence has been published on the diagnosis, pharmacological treatment, and interventional therapy of liver vascular disorders since the European Association for the S

This report provides a review of the cadmium exposure situation in Sweden and updates the information on health risk assessment according to recent studies on the health effects of cadmium. The report focuses on the health effects of low cadmium doses and the identification of high-risk groups. The diet is the main source of cadmium exposure in the Swedish nonsmoking general population. The average daily dietary intake is about 15 micrograms/day, but there are great individual variations due to differences in energy intake and dietary habits. It has been shown that a high fiber diet and a diet

RATIONALE: Peliosis hepatis (PH) is a rare disease with few clinical reports and complex etiology. However, there have been no reports of hyperprolactinemia (HPRL) leading to PH at present. This paper, through case reports, expands the understanding of the etiology of PH and the pathological damage effect of prolactin (PRL).
PATIENT CONCERNS: The patient reported in this paper had jaundice, menstrual disorders, menopause, weight gain, and other symptoms. Laboratory examination found increased levels of PRL and transaminase in liver function, and imaging examination indicated pituitary tumor a

BACKGROUND: Centronuclear myopathies represent a subset of debilitating genetic disorders, for which no treatment exists. The Unite-CNM trial (NCT04033159) aimed to assess the effect of an antisense oligonucleotide to reduce DNM2 mRNA expression in X-linked myotubular myopathy (XLMTM) and autosomal dominant centronuclear myopathy (ADCNM).
OBJECTIVE: The trial was discontinued due to tolerability concerns (hepatic and hematological). This report aims to provide an overview of hepatic involvement in XLMTM and ADCNM adults.
METHODS: The medical history and prospective liver imaging and liver fu

Peliosis hepatis is a rare benign vascular disorder characterized by dilatation of sinusoidal blood-filled spaces within the liver. Peliosis hepatis is most often idiopathic and asymptomatic, it can mimic malignancy and is difficult to diagnose. In this case report, a 41-year-old woman with breast cancer developed multiple hypodensities in the liver during chemotherapy. The hypodensities were found on PET-CT, ultrasonography, and MRI. Finally, a liver biopsy diagnosed the patient with peliosis hepatis and the cause was assumed to be due to chemotherapy.

Peliosis hepatis is a rare condition characterized by dilation of the hepatic sinusoids and the presence of multiple blood-filled cystic spaces within the liver parenchyma. It has been associated with a variety of etiologies, including infectious diseases, immunological disorders, malignancy, and certain medications. We report a case of a 24-year-old male who presented with polyarthritis lasting two months. His medical history revealed a family and personal history of psoriasis, with no known drug use. The physical examination revealed psoriatic lesions localized to specific areas, accompanied

OBJECTIVE: To explore magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features and diffusion characteristics of focal peliosis hepatis (PH).
METHODS: Clinical data and MRI images of 21 patients with pathologically confirmed focal PH treated at Zhongshan Hospital Fudan University and Weifang People's Hospital from January 2012 to March 2024 were retrospectively analyzed. Image analysis included the number, location, size, shape, signal intensity on plain scans, dynamic enhancement characteristics, and the relationship between the lesions and adjacent blood vessels. The apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) va

RATIONALE: Peliosis hepatis is an uncommon benign vascular disorder characterized by sinusoidal dilatation and multiple blood-filled cystic cavities within the hepatic parenchyma. Clinically, it is frequently asymptomatic and often detected incidentally. Its radiological manifestations are complex, highly variable, and lack specificity, leading to frequent misdiagnoses of primary hepatic tumors, metastatic lesions, or abscesses.
PATIENT CONCERNS: We present the case of a 23-year-old female who underwent ultrasound, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging, revealing hepatic lesions

A 13-y-old, spayed female dog had regenerative anemia, lymphopenia, hypoalbuminemia, and elevated hepatic biochemical parameters. Liver biopsy revealed hepatic peliosis (hepatic sinusoidal angiectasis), frequently associated with perisinusoidal fibrosis. The dog was seroreactive to Bartonella antigens by indirect fluorescent antibody assays, and quantitative PCR from blood identified Bartonella vinsonii subsp. berkhoffii genotype II. The dog was euthanized 9 mo later because of acute decompensation. Autopsy revealed icteric adipose tissues, end-stage liver, and abdominal effusion. Microscopica

Peliosis hepatis (PH) and sclerosing angiomatoid nodular transformation of the spleen are uncommon benign lesions. Diagnosis can be difficult in some patients. Herein, we present the case of a 28-year-old woman referred with abdominal pain who had spleen lesions. 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography revealed multiple non-FDG avid lesions in the liver and hypermetabolic lesions in the spleen. In addition, abdominal magnetic resonance imaging was performed. Histopathology revealed sclerosing angiomatoid nodular transformation in the spleen and PH in the l

Non-neoplastic tumor-like conditions of the liver can appear similar to hepatic neoplasms. In many cases, a biopsy is required to confirm the pathology. However, several tumor-like conditions can be correctly diagnosed or suggested prospectively, thus saving patients from unnecessary anxiety and expense. In this image-focused review, we present the ultrasound, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and positron emission tomography scan features of eight such entities. Clues that indicate the correct pathology are discussed, and the usual clinical setting is described. Many of these l

Peliosis hepatis (PH) is a rare benign vascular condition characterized by sinusoidal dilatation and the presence of blood-filled spaces within the liver. PH is often clinically asymptomatic and is discovered incidentally. It presents a clinical challenge as its imaging findings frequently mimic other pathologies, including primary or secondary malignancies and abscesses. In this article, we present a case of a 73-year-old woman with a history of recurrent tongue cancer treated by surgery and chemoradiotherapy, and concurrent multiple myeloma, in whom PH was incidentally discovered. Peliosis hepatis (PH) is a rare benign pathological entity characterised by dilatation of the hepatic sinusoids. It has been reported to be associated with infection or malignancy, but the aetiology of PH remains unknown. Distinguishing PH from other malignancies can be difficult on imaging studies. This case report describes the incidental finding of PH in a patient undergoing a cardiac computed tomography (CT) scan at our institution. The CT scan incidentally revealed areas of altered density in the liver on the abdominal scans, requiring detailed liver diagnostic studies for better characte

Reports on neoplastic processes in snakes are sparse regardless of their location, origin or behavior. Here, we describe the occurrence of multifocal cutaneous neoplastic processes consistent with hemangioma and hemangioendothelioma, with a differential diagnosis of angiomatosis, in a colony of native Brazilian rainbow boas (Epicrates cenchria) which also included animals affected by boid inclusion body disease (BIBD). Thirteen snakes were affected; seven of these had been introduced from other Brazilian sites years earlier, the others had been bred in house but were not offspring of knowingly

INTRODUCTION: Hepatic peliosis is a rare benign vascular disorder characterized by dilatation of sinusoidal blood-filled spaces within the liver. It often remains asymptomatic and is diagnosed incidentally in an autopsy. Herein, we report a case of a 1-day-old female newborn who was admitted to the neonatal resuscitation unit for abdominal distension.
CASE PRESENTATION: An abdominal examination revealed a firm mass with irregular contours in the upper quadrant of the abdomen, indicating hepatomegaly. Radiological explorations confirmed the hepatomegaly, and an ultrasound-guided liver biopsy s
