Bronchogenic cyst of pancreas: a rare case report.

BACKGROUND: Bronchogenic cyst is a rare congenital developmental abnormality of the anterior bowel. Peri-pancreatic bronchogenic cyst (PBC) is extremely rare, when only a few cases reported worldwide. Diagnosis of PBC is difficult due to the lack of specific clinical features and symptoms, laboratory and imaging findings. Currently, the diagnosis of PBC mainly relies on the comprehensive judgment of multidisciplinary collaboration, combined with clinical manifestations, imaging features and pathological verification. Most bronchogenic cysts are benign and the long-term survival rate after comp

A Pancreatic Hydatid Cysts Causing Recurrent Acute Pancreatitis Mimicking a Pancreatic Pseudocyst: A Case Report.

Hydatid disease is a zoonotic disease, mainly prevalent in endemic countries. The liver and lungs are the most commonly affected organs in hydatid disease. Primary hydatid cyst of the pancreas is rare, and pancreatitis due to hydatid cyst has rarely been listed in the literature. Hydatid cyst of the pancreas is difficult to diagnose preoperatively. It can be misdiagnosed as a pseudocyst of the pancreas. We report the case of a 32-year-old female patient who presented with recurrent acute pancreatitis. Following preoperative imaging, the primary impression was a pancreatic pseudocyst. On furthe

Low-Grade Mucinous Neoplasm Arising in an Enteric Duplication Cyst of Pancreas: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Background. Enteric duplication cysts are rare but can occur in various parts of the gastrointestinal tract, including the pancreas. Most enteric duplication cysts are benign; however, neoplastic transformation has been reported in a few cases, with adenocarcinoma being the most common malignant transformation. Case Presentation. We present an adult with a pancreatic enteric duplication cyst and low-grade mucinous neoplasm. The patient did not exhibit any clinically significant symptoms or physical signs. Imaging revealed a cystic mass in the pancreatic head. Upon pathological examination, the

A case report of simple mucinous cyst of pancreas detected by rupture.

INTRODUCTION: Simple mucinous cyst (SMC) of pancreas is a disease defined by the Baltimore Consensus in 2014. Pancreatic mucus-producing neoplasms are considered to be premalignant tumors, but SMC is not considered to have a risk of malignancy or recurrence. PRESENTATION OF CASE: The case was a woman in her 50s with a chief complaint of abdominal pain. A blood exam showed an increase in the inflammatory response, and a slight increase of Amylase. CT showed a cystic lesion 80 mm in size at tail of the pancreas, and disproportionate fat stranding and ascites around it. We diagnosed peritonitis

Large lymphoepithelial cyst of pancreas: a rare entity managed using lumen-apposing metal stent-case report and review of the literature.

Lymphoepithelial cysts (LECs) are extremely rare nonmalignant cysts of the pancreas. Asymptomatic LECs are managed conservatively, but symptomatic LECS have traditionally been managed with surgical resection. We report the first case of symptomatic infected LEC of the pancreas successfully managed with EUS guided endoscopic drainage with lumen-apposing metal stent. We also review the relevant literature and discuss the diagnosis and management of this rare cyst of the pancreas.

Balanced bifrontal transcranial direct current stimulation enhances working memory in adults with high-functioning autism: a sham-controlled crossover study.

BACKGROUND: Substance use, alcohol use, and smoking use have all been associated with burn injury. Few studies have investigated associations with substances, alcohol, smoking, inhalational only burns, and patient outcomes. The purpose of the study was to identify risk factors for pulmonary failure in patients suffering inhalation injury, focusing on the impact of substance, alcohol, and cigarette use. METHODS: This is a single-center retrospective analysis of 115 patients admitted to the Johns Hopkins Bayview Burn Center with inhalational injury from January 1, 2010, through September 30, 20

Isolated hydatid cyst of the pancreas masquerading as pancreatic pseudocyst.

Hydatid cyst of the pancreas is very rare and usually presents with obstructive jaundice. We report a case of a 7-year-old girl with cyst of the pancreas without any obstructive jaundice. The child was treated surgically and hydatid cyst of pancreas was found. Partial pericystectomy was performed. After 1 month on follow-up, the child developed pseudocyst of pancreas, which needed cystogastrostomy. Postoperatively, the child improved and is remaining well after 3 months of follow-up. Hydatid cysts of pancreas are very difficult to diagnose preoperatively and should be kept as a differential di

Anesthetic management of a pregnant patient with pseudo-pancreatic cyst for cysto-gastrostomy.

Non-obstetric diseases during pregnancy are not uncommon. The presence of systemic disease may further insult the pregnancy leading to alteration in the normal function of other system. Hence, it is important to treat the disease depending upon the severity and type of urgency. Several systemic diseases in pregnancy and management have been reported earlier but it is necessary to report a rare pathology, treatment option and its anesthetic management. We report anesthetic management of a rare case of pseudo pancreatic cyst in a pregnant lady operated for cysto-gastrostomy and also highlighting

Heterotopic pancreas autotransplantation with spleen for uncontrollable hemorrhagic pseudocyst and disabling pain in chronic pancreatitis.

BACKGROUND/AIMS: In this study, we report on a heterotopic segmental pancreatic autotransplantation (HPAT) with spleen for alcoholic chronic pancreatitis with uncontrollable hemorrhagic pseudocyst and complete portal venous obstruction. The patient was a 72-year-old man who had an alcoholic chronic pancreatitis with severe abdominal pain and hemorrhagic pseudocyst. The first bleeding from a pseudoaneurism of the gastro-duodenal artery (GDA) to the cyst of pancreas head was stopped by interventional radiology (IVR) at our hospital on May 2010. The second bleeding happened with severe abdominal

A case of lymphoepithelial cyst of pancreas with unique "cheerios-like" appearance in EUS.

Lymphoepithelial cyst (LEC) of the pancreas is a rare benign lesion, which is difficult to diagnose preoperatively. We describe a case of a 60-year-old male, incidentally diagnosed as having LEC of the pancreas, which was managed by laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy. Most of the reported cases of LEC were asymptomatic and diagnosed incidentally. A high index of suspicion under EUS may help in making a diagnosis and avoiding unnecessary surgery in asymptomatic patients. In particular, the unique "cheerios-like" appearance of the lesion in EUS, which was also found in this case, might be helpfu

Primary hydatid cyst of pancreas with acute pancreatitis.

CONTEXT: Primary hydatid disease of the pancreas is very rare and even rarer to cause pancreatitis. CASE REPORT: We report the case of a 20-year-old man who presented with abdominal pain and an epigastric mass. A diagnosis of a pancreatic hydatid cyst was established by ultrasonography and CT scan before surgery. The treatment consisted of laparoscopic cyst evacuation with omentoplasty. The recovery was uneventful and the patient has remained symptom free so far. CONCLUSIONS: Hydatid disease should be considered in the differential diagnosis of all cystic masses in the pancreas, especially i

Primary hydatid cyst masquerading as pseudocyst of the pancreas with concomitant small gut obstruction--an unusual presentation.

Isolated retroperitoneal hydatid cyst is an exceptionally rare entity. Owing to vague and varied symptomatology, it is seldom diagnosed without puncture cytology or surgery. We report an unusual presentation of primary retroperitoneal hydatid cyst with concomitant small gut obstruction. Ultrasonography and computed tomography of the abdomen showed localized abscess or pseudocyst of pancreas. Preoperatively, ultrasound-guided puncture cytology of the lesion revealed suspicious hydatid pathology. The patient was examined and, peroperatively, the cyst masqueraded as hydatid cyst of pancreas along

Single-step EUS-guided endoscopic treatment for sterile pancreatic collections: a single-center experience.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) is useful for the treatment of sterile pancreatic fluid collections (PFC), either by means of transmural drainage or by complete aspiration. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of single-step EUS-guided endoscopic approaches for treatment of sterile PFC. PATIENTS AND METHODS: During a 3-year period, 77 consecutive patients with symptomatic, persistent sterile PFC were evaluated and treated with the linear EUS. We excluded patients with grossly purulent collections, chronic pseudocyst and those whose cytology diagnostic

Lymphoepithelial cyst of pancreas. Role of endoscopic ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration.

Lymphoepithelial cysts of the pancreas are extremely rare, benign, nonneoplastic cysts that may simulate pseudocysts or cystic neoplasm of the pancreas. Endosonographic and cytologic features of pancreatic lymphoepithelial cysts are poorly characterized because of their rarity. However, appropriate prospective diagnosis of pancreatic lymphoepithelial cysts using endoscopic ultrasound-guided fined needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) cytology may permit conservative management because of their benign nature. We conducted a MEDLINE search using the MeSH terms "pancreas", "cyst" and identified 16 patients
