BACKGROUND AND AIM: Central giant cell tumour (CGCT) accounts for < 7% of all benign tumours of the jaws with various non-surgical and surgical treatment modalities. In this study, the authors perform one of the largest retrospective analysis on central giant cell tumour over a ten-year period.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: A total of 157 cases of CGCT treated in service hospitals by a single operator were retrospectively analysed in terms of basic demographic data, clinical and radiographic features, surgical intervention protocols, reconstruction modalities and complications.

BACKGROUND: Intussusception refers to the telescoping of a proximal segment of bowel into a distal segment. It is a rare cause of intestinal obstruction in adulthood.
CASE DETAILS: We report two cases of adult intussusception in a post-operative period following Caesarean Section (with no lead point) and Appendicectomy (due to colonic adenocarcinoma) respectively.
CONCLUSION: Though rare in adulthood, intussusception should be considered as a differential diagnosis to bowel obstruction in adults even in the post-operative period.

Intestinal obstruction is a common complication after Ladd procedure. Ninety-three cases who had undergone the Ladd procedure between 1977 and 2013 treated at our own institution were retrospectively reviewed to identify the causes and risk factors for intestinal obstruction. The Ladd procedure has been performed without any intestinal fixing. Of the 87 cases who survived to discharge, intestinal obstruction was observed in 22 (25.3%). Laparoscopic surgery for this disease is not widely spread due to difficulties in its procedure. We started a laparoscopic procedure for this disease since 2011, and the robotic surgery since 2012. Intussusception is a rare cause of postoperative intestinal obstruction in adults. We experienced two cases of bowel obstruction due to the jejuno-jejunal intussusception after harvest of a free jejunum graft for reconstruction after cervical esophagectomy. Bowel obstruction occurred early in the postoperative course, and reoperations were needed in both cases. In both case, the anastomotic site was resected and re-anastomosed in a side-to-side fashion. AIM: To explore the feasibility and oncologic outcomes of segmental jejunal resection on the left side of the mesenteric vessels in patients with tumors of the angle of Treitz using data from a single center.

Gossypiboma (GP) or retained surgical sponge is one of the rare surgical complications which can happen despite precautions. Because of the medico-legal issues, it is under-reported. An 8-year-old thalassemic girl, with a history of splenectomy and cholecystectomy, presented to us with acute intestinal obstruction and required surgical exploration. Intraluminal gossypiboma obstructing the ileum was found. Though a rare cause, gossypiboma should also be included in the differential diagnoses of postoperative intestinal obstruction.

Single-incision laparoscopic fundoplication for gastroesophageal reflux disease is not widespread because of its technical difficulty. On the other hand, patients with gastroesophageal reflux frequently also have mental retardation and eating disorders.
