A 7-year-old, castrated male, domestic shorthair cat presented with generalized exfoliative dermatitis, lethargy, anorexia and weight loss. Multiple skin scrapings taken at the time did not reveal any abnormalities. Human immunodeficiency virus-infected patients are at increased risk of drug reactions because of immune dysregulation and multiple drug intake. Lichenoid drug reactions to isoniazid have been reported previously in the literature. However, for lichenoid drug reaction to isoniazid to be so extensive to present as exfoliative dermatitis is rare. We report here a rare case of lichenoid drug reaction to isoniazid presenting as exfoliative dermatitis in a patient with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome.

BACKGROUND: Bevacizumab is a recombinant, humanized monoclonal antibody against vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) that inhibits angiogenesis. Bevacizumab is typically well tolerated; its major side effects include hypertension, proteinuria, bleeding, gastrointestinal perforation, and arterial thrombotic events, among others. Cutaneous side effects associated with the use of bevacizumab are rare and involve mainly itching and exfoliative dermatitis. Nonspecific skin rash and acneiform eruptions have recently been described in patients following infusion of bevacizumab.

Imatinib, a specific tyrosine kinase inhibitor is a newer anticancer agent, which has shown excellent efficacy in managing chronic myeloid leukemia. It is generally well tolerated with few side effects. Most commonly reported adverse events are maculopapular eruptions and periorbital edema. Severe adverse reactions are seen in 5% of patients. Exfoliative dermatitis has been very rarely reported with this drug. We report a case of a 52-year-old male who initially presented with a maculopapular rash and developed erythroderma on continuation of the drug.

A 60-year-old male patient on maintenance hemodialysis was started on antituberculosis therapy with isoniazid, rifampin, ethambutol, and pyrazinamide for pulmonary tuberculosis. We investigated the population structure of Staphylococcus aureus clonal complex CC121 by mutation discovery at 115 genetic housekeeping loci from each of 154 isolates, sampled on five continents between 1953 and 2009.
