Recurrent vaginal discharge in children may be due to variety of causes. Intravaginal foreign body retained for long duration can be a diagnostic dilemma. This report presents the case of a girl who had an intravaginal foreign body for over four years duration. Recurrent, unremitting, foul-smelling, bloody vaginal discharge in a child should alert the clinician to the possibility of a retained vaginal foreign body.

We evaluated the main causes of vulvar dermatoses; in 785 patients with a vulvar diseases who visited Ibn Rochd Hospital Centre, Casablanca between January 1991 and December 2002. The average age was 31 years (range 2 months to 81 years); 362 patients (41.52%) had vulvar pruritus, 273 patients (34.77%) had warts and 157 (20%) had one or more vulva ulcers. Pregnancy is considered a factor of vulvovaginal mycosis. Secretion of hydrolases is an important determinant of Candida virulence. Thus, the aim of the study was to found the relationship between activity of 19 hydrolases in fungi isolated from vagina of pregnant women and symptoms of mycosis. 251 pregnant women were examined. Dryness and itching in the vulvovaginal area is an increasing problem as our female population ages and becomes menopausal. This dryness and itching is often the result of estrogen deficiency, and there are typically two types of treatment: Specific Therapy (or hormone replacement therapy), and Nonspecific Therapy. Dermatologists should be able to sort out the causes of the itching and irritation, and understand the approaches to therapy.

Syringomas are benign lesions most commonly appearing around the eyelids and in malar areas, but they have also been described on other body sites. Depending on the site they may cause either aesthetic disturbance (e.g. face, neck, arms) or pruritus (e.g. vulva). This is the first report of argon laser treatment of syringoma in a patient with multiple vulvar syringomas in association with pruritus vulvae and carcinophobia.

OBJECTIVES: Our purpose was to assess the potential for an external vaginal antiitch cream (20% benzocaine, 3% resorcinol) to significantly increase levels of methemoglobin above normal in healthy women.
STUDY DESIGN: Fifty-five women reporting external vaginal itch were recruited for the study. Genital syringomas are rare and usually asymptomatic. We report 2 young women who presented with pruritus vulvae. Examination revealed multiple bilateral skin-coloured papules over the labia majora. Histology showed syringoma. Syringomas should be considered in the differential diagnosis of pruritic papular lesions of the vulva.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the long-term outcome of patients presenting with vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia (VIN) with superficially invasive carcinoma of the vulva (SICa).
DESIGN: A retrospective study using information obtained from patient case notes.
