A 52-year-old man with scoliosis and psoriasis vulgaris, treated with infliximab, presented with a large right gastroepiploic artery aneurysm (GEAA). Following surgical resection, additional aneurysms of the anterior communicating artery and abdominal aorta were identified. Histopathological examination revealed a pseudoaneurysm with organizing thrombus and marked acute inflammation, including neutrophilic infiltration of the medial wall. Despite negative cultures, an infection-related vascular insult could not be excluded. This case highlights a rare immune-mediated vascular pathology in the

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a severe form of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), characterized by hepatic inflammation and damage due to fat accumulation. Psoriasis patients show higher NASH incidence due to overlapping risk factors like obesity and insulin resistance. The study aimed to determine the incidence of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis in patients with psoriasis vulgaris.
METHODS: This cross-sectional observational study included 80 adult patients diagnosed with psoriasis vulgaris. Psoriasis severity was assessed using the Psoriasis Area and Sev

A psoriasis vulgaris flare is characterized by a rapid intensification of symptoms, which is often triggered by various factors that can worsen the condition. The risk factors for these exacerbations are numerous and include obesity, antihypertensive drugs, and psychological stress. Moreover, links have been documented between type II diabetes, hypertension, and psoriasis vulgaris. The present case report describes a 52-year-old female patient who presented at the clinic with disseminated erythematous-squamous plaques and patches covered by thick, white-pearly, easily detachable scales, along

International studies describe considerable multi-faceted burdens for patients living with psoriasis vulgaris. However, there is few research on the experience in the life of patients with psoriasis vulgaris in Japan, particularly regarding psychosocial impacts when symptoms are visible parts of their body. A qualitative descriptive study using semi-structured one-on-one interviews was conducted with 23 patients. Interviews focused on the impact of psoriasis vulgaris on motivation, daily life, social interactions, life course decisions, and psychological burdens, and the transcripts were disti

Both psoriasis and autoimmune thyroid diseases are characterized by chronic inflammation. The previous studies indicated a potential association between psoriasis and autoimmune thyroid diseases. However, the direction and nature of these relationships remain unclear. This study aimed to investigate the bidirectional causal relationships between multiple thyroid diseases (hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Hashimoto thyroiditis, and Graves disease (GD)) and psoriasis (PsO) as well as its subtypes (psoriasis vulgaris (PV) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA)) through a two-sample Mendelian randomization

BACKGROUND: Topical glucocorticoids are widely used in psoriasis treatment but may lead to systemic adverse effects, particularly with prolonged use. While pediatric cases are well-documented, adult-onset iatrogenic Cushing's syndrome from topical corticosteroids remains under-recognized.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 31-year-old woman with a 10-year history of psoriasis vulgaris self-administered high-potency clobetasol propionate ointment (monthly cumulative dose escalated from 30 g to 100 g over 22 months) under no physician supervision. She presented with erythrodermic psoriasis and Cushingoid fea

A systemic review was completed of primary research articles reporting patient outcomes in paradoxical psoriatic alopecia in association with biologic therapy. Our search strategy identified 96 patients from 45 studies in addition to our own case. Our review indicates a higher prevalence of paradoxical psoriatic alopecia in younger female patients, most commonly secondary to TNF-alpha inhibitors. Unlike alopecia secondary to psoriasis vulgaris, a mixed inflammatory infiltrate featuring lymphocytes, plasma cells and eosinophils was observed. Remission was observed in most patients, including ap

Mal de Meleda (MDM) is a rare hereditary skin disorder classified as an autosomal recessive palmoplantar keratoderma, with an estimated prevalence of 1 in 100,000 individuals. It is commonly linked to consanguineous parentage and typically presents during early childhood. The hallmark features of the condition include transient thickening of the palms and soles, skin sclerosis and atrophy, scleroatrophic erythematous lesions, pseudoainhum formation around the digits, and erythema around the mouth. Due to its rarity, many dermatologists may lack clinical familiarity with MDM. Moreover, there is

Background In psoriasis patients treated with biologics, some achieve an ideal response to biologics and remain clear of lesions for several months, even years (super-responders-SRs), whereas others repeatedly fail to respond (super-non-responders-SNRs) to the biologic. Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics of SRs and SNRs in psoriasis patients treated with biologic interleukin-17 inhibitors. Methods Chronic plaque psoriasis or psoriasis vulgaris patients who received IL-17i treatment for more than 6 months were included. Results In total, 664 patients were included, with 120 (

Generalized pustular psoriasis is a rare but severe form of psoriasis, accounting for 7.5% of all psoriasis cases. We investigated whether the disease burden and quality of life of patients with generalized pustular psoriasis were lower than those of patients with psoriasis vulgaris in Japan. Patients registered in the Western Japan Psoriasis Registry, a prospective cohort of patients with psoriasis treated at 31 facilities specializing in psoriasis medicine, were surveyed using the SF-36v2 and other patient-reported outcomes. We enrolled patients with generalized pustular psoriasis (n = 97) a

Fahr's syndrome is a rare entity characterized by symmetrical and bilateral non-atherosclerotic intracerebral calcifications in the basal ganglia. This entity is usually asymptomatic or may present mainly with neuro-neuropsychiatric and dermatological manifestations. Secondary bilateral striopallidodentate calcinosis (BSPDC) presentations are associated with various diseases. We describe a case of psoriasis vulgaris associated with secondary BSPDC due to hypoparathyroidism. Laboratory tests revealed hypocalcemia, hyperphosphatemia, and a low parathormone serum level; on cerebral computed tomog

Generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP) is a rare and potentially life-threatening autoimmune inflammatory skin disease. Tofacitinib is a non-selective, first-generation Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor. Currently, both domestic and international reports regarding the use of tofacitinib mainly have primarily focused on the treatment of psoriasis vulgaris and psoriatic arthritis. As GPP is a rare skin disease, reports on the use of tofacitinib in the treatment of GPP are rare. This report presents a case of severe GPP that was effectively treated with tofacitinib. This case suggests that this non-sele

Psoriasis vulgaris (PV) is a common, T cell mediated dermatosis with substantial systemic footprint. While αβ T cells are well established drivers of PV, the role of γδ T cells, including their abundance, clonal architecture and transcriptional programs in PV remain incompletely understood. To address this, we performed an integrated analysis of circulating and cutaneous γδ cells from 65 patients with PV and 35 healthy controls using TCR repertoire sequencing, bulk transcriptomics, and flow cytometry. In PV, disease severity and age drove contraction of peripheral γδ T cell repertoires, marked

Microinfusion of medications into the skin (MMP®) is an innovative method that employs tattoo devices to administer pharmaceuticals transdermally. This technique facilitates the formation of microchannels in the skin, allowing for localized drug deposition with minimal systemic absorption and fewer adverse effects. A literature search was conducted using PubMed and Google Scholar to identify studies discussing the application of MMP as a transdermal drug delivery method, covering publications up to October 2025. All studies identified through the literature search were summarized in chronologi

BACKGROUND: Psoriasis vulgaris (PV) is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder in which oxidative stress, redox imbalance, and genetic susceptibility play crucial roles. Glutathione peroxidase-3 (GPx-3), a selenium-dependent antioxidant enzyme, regulates redox homeostasis by detoxifying reactive oxygen species. Variants in the GPx-3 gene may alter antioxidant defense and trace element metabolism, thereby contributing to PV pathogenesis.
AIM: This case-control study investigated the association between the GPx-3 +1494A/G polymorphism and serum trace element levels in PV.
METHODS: A total of 71 p
