Pityriasis Rosea and Pityriasis Rosea-like Eruption Following COVID-19 Vaccinations: Case Series from Oman.

To mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, several vaccines have been developed and administered to the public since 2021. A spectrum of cutaneous reactions has been reported among some of the vaccinated individuals. In this case series, we describe three cases of pityriasis rosea and pityriasis rosea-like eruption that manifested after COVID-19 vaccinations, which might suggest the vaccines as a possible trigger.

Pityriasis following COVID-19 vaccinations: a systematic review.

In the wake of a global COVID-19 pandemic, where innovations in vaccination technology and the speed of development and distribution have been unprecedented, a wide variety of post-vaccination cutaneous reactions have surfaced. However, there has not been a systematic review that investigates pityriasis eruptions and the associated variants following COVID-19 inoculations. A PubMed search using Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses was performed to find case reports from the earliest record through November 2022. Data including types of vaccination and pityriasis w

Trichophyton: Changing Nomenclature and Practical Implications.

Trichophyton interdigitale had been regarded as anthropophilic, mainly causing non-inflammatory tinea unguium and tinea pedis. T. mentagrophytes, thought to be zoophilic, were regarded as responsible for more inflammatory dermatophytosis. Indian terbinafine-resistant strains, identified with ribosomal internal transcribed spacer as 'genotype VIII', have recently been termed Trichophyton indotineae based on clinical and mycological features. Some of these have shown selective azole resistance as well. Phenotypic studies have shown some similarities and some differences between Trichophyton indo

Concomitant Severe Psoriasis and Bullous Pemphigoid Induced by COVID-19.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), first isolated in Wuhan, China, is currently a pandemic. At the beginning of the pandemic, pulmonary issues were the most discussed and studied. However, now 3 years later, the role of the dermatologist has become increasingly central. Often the diversity in the presentation of these manifestations has made it difficult for the dermatologist to recognize them. In addition to the common symptoms involving fever, cough, dyspnea, and hypogeusia/hyposmia that have been widely discussed in t

Cutaneous reactions following COVID-19 vaccination assessed by dermatologists: a single-institutional study in Germany.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Cutaneous reactions following COVID-19 vaccination have been frequently described, whereas larger case series by dermatologists are lacking. This study assesses SARS-CoV-2 vaccination-associated skin reactions, severity, treatment, course, eliciting vaccines, allergy test results and tolerance to revaccination. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Single-institutional, non-interventional study of dermatologists assessing cutaneous manifestations in 83 patients in Germany. RESULTS: 93 reactions were presented. Manifestations clustered into immediate (n = 51, 54.8%) and delayed hyp

SARS-CoV-2 and allergy - what have we learned after two and a half years?

BACKGROUND: Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) has significantly hampered the regular workflow for allergists and allergy departments. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The purpose of this review is to highlight our own experiences on SARS-CoV-2 and allergy as well as to discuss findings from the literature. RESULTS: Vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 is needed for protection against severe infection. Skin reactions may arise with SARS-CoV-2 infections. Short-term general immune reactions and skin reactions are also possible upon SARS-CoV-2 vaccination; however, they recur in only a proportion of patients

Cutaneous Adverse Drug Reactions (CADRs) to COVID19 Vaccines: A Case Series.

Viral vector vaccines (Covishield) and inactivated vaccines (Covaxin) are now being administered worldwide to reduce the impact of life-threatening corona virus disease 19 (COVID-19). Various cutaneous adverse drug reactions (CADRs) have been reported following COVID-19 vaccination. Here, we are reporting series of CADRs following COVID-19 vaccination. Among 18 CADRs, 4 each were of acute urticaria and pityriasis rosea, 2 each of leukocytoclastic vasculitis and herpes zoster, 3 exacerbation of psoriasis, and 1 each of exacerbation of eczema, reactivation of herpes simplex virus 1 infection, an

Management of coronavirus disease 2019 vaccine-induced cutaneous complications: A comprehensive literature review.

Despite the numerous reports of cutaneous manifestations associated with vaccines for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the relationship between COVID-19 vaccines and cutaneous side effects remains unevaluated. In this review, we examine these manifestations and their management. Reported dermatoses included injection-site reaction (early and delayed), type I allergic reaction, morbilliform eruption, pityriasis rosea, Sweet syndrome, lichen planus, psoriasis, herpes zoster reactivation, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN). The most common COVI

Is it possible to predict spontaneous passage of a ureteral stone? An up-to-date comment on the current problem with new concepts concerning the patient and the stone.

UNLABELLED: Surgical removal of the gallbladder is indicated in nearly all cases of complicated acute cholecystitis. In the 1990s, laparoscopic cholecystectomy became the method of choice in the treatment of cholecystolithiasis. Due to a large inflammatory reaction in the course of acute inflammation, a laparoscopic procedure is conducted in technically difficult conditions and entails the risk of complications. THE AIM OF THIS PAPER: The aim of this paper was: 1) to analyze ultrasound images in acute cholecystitis; 2) to specify the most common causes of conversion from the laparoscopic meth

Pityriasis Rosea-like eruptions following COVID-19 mRNA-1273 vaccination: A case report and literature review.

Pityriasis rosea (PR) is a self-limited disease with exanthematous papulosquamous rashes mostly associated with reactivation of human herpesvirus (HHV)-6 or HHV-7. PR-like eruptions, which occur along with peripheral eosinophilia, interface dermatitis, and eosinophils on histopathology, may result from medications or vaccinations. Previously, PR-like eruptions had been noted following vaccination for influenza or other vaccines. During this pandemic, acute COVID-19 infection has been related to PR or PR-like eruptions in several cases. Various COVID-19 vaccines associated with PR-like eruption
