Lichenoid pseudovesicular papular eruption on nose: A papular facial dermatosis probably related to actinic lichen nitidus or micropapular polymorphous light eruption.

BACKGROUND: Facial papules are a feature of several clinical conditions and may present both diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. AIM: To describe a grouped papular eruption on the nose and adjoining cheeks that has not been well characterized previously. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A series of consecutive patients with a papular eruption predominantly involving nose and cheeks were evaluated, treated and followed up prospectively at tertiary care centers. Demographic details, clinical features, histopathology and response to treatment were recorded. RESULTS: There were five men and six women

Pediatric generalized lichen nitidus treated with natural sunlight therapy.

Lichen nitidus is a benign inflammatory dermatosis that typically presents in a localized distribution. We present the rare case of a 6-year-old boy with a 1-year history of generalized lichen nitidus with limited access to narrowband ultraviolet B phototherapy. Over the course of a summer, he had complete and lasting resolution of generalized lichen nitidus after daily natural sunlight exposure. This case demonstrates a rare variant of lichen nitidus and a practical treatment alternative to in-office phototherapy.

Coexistence of Anogenital Psoriasis and Genital Warts - Is There an Optimal Treatment?

The prevalence of psoriasis is 2% of the world's population (1). Inverse psoriasis is characterized by the development of erythematous shiny plaques at intertriginous areas of the body. The prevalence of only anogenital involvement appears to be low, but involvement of the anogenital area together with other areas is found in up to 45% of patients with psoriasis (2). A 21-year-old female student with a 3-month history of mild psoriasis (erythematosquamous plaque on the elbows and nail pitting on the nails of the hand) was referred to our Department. One month earlier, suddenly appearance of er

[Lichen nitidus and lichen striatus].

Lichen nitidus is a rare, chronic dermatosis which occurs more often in children than in adults. It presents with tiny, monomorphous, lichenoid, mostly asymptomatic papules in regional or disseminated distribution which show a pathognomonic histological pattern. The pathogenesis is unclear; however, immunologic phenomena and genetic factors are under discussion. In rare cases, an association with other dermatoses and systemic diseases has been described. Moreover, medical treatments have been incriminated as triggers. Considering the self-limited course in mostly young patients, treatment must

Noninfectious Penile Lesions.

Noninfectious penile lesions are classified by clinical presentation as papulosquamous (e.g., psoriasis), inflammatory (e.g., lichen sclerosus, lichen nitidus, lichen planus), vascular (e.g., angiokeratomas), or neoplastic (e.g., carcinoma in situ, invasive squamous cell carcinoma). Psoriasis presents as red or salmon-colored plaques with overlying silvery scales, often with extragenital cutaneous lesions. Lichen sclerosus presents as a phimotic, hypopigmented prepuce or glans penis with a cellophane-like texture. Lichen nitidus usually produces asymptomatic pinhead-sized, hypopigmented papule

Disseminated Granulomatous Perifollicular Dermatosis With Comedones: A Follicular Variant of Lichen Nitidus or a New Entity?

The presence of acquired generalized keratotic follicular papules and comedones developing in adulthood constitute an uncommon clinical situation. Although this clinical presentation has been described in several noninflammatory, inflammatory, and neoplastic skin disorders, its association with an exclusive perifollicular epitheliod or granulomatous inflammatory reaction represents an exceedingly rare phenomenon. We report a case of a 57-year-old male patient presenting clinically numerous acquired disseminated follicular papules and comedones, showing isolated perifollicular sarcoid-like gran

Dermatoscopic features of lichen nitidus.

Dermatoscopy is a noninvasive, painless, and easily repeatable technique that reveals interesting and characteristic features associated with various cutaneous conditions. Lichen nitidus is a rare dermatosis of childhood. We describe the dermatoscopic features in 8 cases of lichen nitidus, which can aid noninvasive diagnosis. The report serves to emphasize the need for examining these lesions using both polarized and nonpolarized modes.

Lichenoid dermatoses in hospitals in Lomé, Togo: 959 cases.

The aim of this study was to describe the epidemiologic, clinical, and therapeutic profiles of cases of lichenoid dermatosis in Lomé, together with their outcomes. This retrospective descriptive study reviewed records of patients receiving care for lichenoid dermatosis from January 1997 to December 2016 in the dermatology departments of Lomé. In total, 959 (2.2%) cases of lichenoid dermatoses including 813 (84.8%) of lichen planus and 123 (12.8%) of lichen striatus were recorded. The mean age of the patients was 29.60 +/- 14 years and the sex ratio (M/F) was 0.7. Lichen planus was papular and

Differentiation of pityriasis rubra pilaris from plaque psoriasis by dermoscopy.

BACKGROUND: Diagnosing and differentiating pityriasis rubra pilaris (PRP) from other disorders can be a challenging task. Although histopathology remains the gold standard, it may not be feasible at times, especially in children. Being noninvasive, dermoscopy can be of great diagnostic importance in such a scenario. Dermoscopy overcomes the refractive properties of stratum corneum by interface medium or cross-polarization enabling easier visualization of lesions. OBJECTIVE: To study the dermoscopic features of PRP and compare them with dermoscopic features of psoriasis. PATIENTS AND METHODS:

Lichen Nitidus Associated with Onychodystrophy and Response to Therapy: Report of Two Cases.

Lichen nitidus (LN) is a chronic inflammatory condition characterised by multiple asymptomatic shiny, flat-topped, pale to skin-coloured tiny papules. LN occurs most often in children and young adults with limbs, abdomen, chest, and penile shaft as common sites of predilection. Nail involvement is rare and includes irregular longitudinal grooving and ridging of the nail plate. We report two cases of generalised LN with nail dystrophy in 8- and 12-year-old boys along with the treatment response and review the pertinent literature.

Lichen Nitidus of the Eyelids.

Lichen nitidus is a rare, idiopathic inflammatory condition that typically presents as small, flat-topped papules on the chest, abdomen, and upper extremities. The lesions are benign and often asymptomatic and self-resolve. The pediatric population is most often affected. The authors report a case of lichen nitidus presenting as isolated bilateral eyelid lesions increasing in number for several years. Eventual excision and antibiotic/steroid ointment prompted regression.

Lichen Planus With Predominate Plasma Cell Infiltrate: Two Case Reports.

Lichen planus (LP) is a mucocutaneous inflammatory dermatitis of idiopathic origin that can involve the skin, mucous membranes, hair, and nails. LP has an associated set of characteristic histopathologic findings which include hyperkeratosis, vacuolization of the basal layer, Civatte bodies, wedge-shaped hypergranulosis, band-like lymphocytic infiltrate at the dermal epidermal junction, eosinophilic colloid bodies in the papillary dermis, and pigment incontinence. The infiltrate is usually composed of lymphocytes with few histiocytes, mast cells, and macrophages. The presence of plasma cell pr

Hyperkeratotic and hypertrophic lichen nitidus.

Lichen nitidus typically presents as shiny pin-head sized papules on the trunk and extremities, often affecting children and young adults. In this prototypical form, it rarely presents a diagnostic challenge being characterized by distinctive clinical and histopathologic findings. We describe a rare variant of lichen nitidus, which we term "hyperkeratotic and hypertrophic lichen nitidus."
