Triple A syndrome (AAAS) is a rare autosomal recessive neuroendocrine disorder caused by pathogenic variants in the AAAS gene and characterized by marked clinical heterogeneity. In this multicenter retrospective study, we analyzed 23 patients from 18 families diagnosed across nine centers in Türkiye to characterize the molecular and clinical features of AAAS. Six distinct vari-ants in the AAAS gene were identified in this cohort, with truncating variants predominating. The most frequent variant was c.1066_1067delCT (p.Leu356Valfs*8), detected in 7 of 18 families, followed by the nonsense varia

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory cutaneous disorder that usually starts in the second or third decade of life and has a profound negative impact on quality of life of those who are affected. HS presents with both inflammatory and cicatricial lesions that are often markedly symptomatic, including pain and purulent discharge, and commonly affect areas that are intertriginous, resulting in additional frictional and mechanical discomfort. The pathophysiology is complex and incompletely understood and results in changes that are transcutaneous, involving the epidermis, superf

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory cutaneous disorder that often starts in the second or third decade of life, induces both inflammatory and cicatricial cutaneous lesions, and frequently involves intertriginous and anogenital anatomic sites. Abscesses, nodules, and draining tunnels are reversible inflammatory lesions that cycle over time through unpredictable periods of exacerbation; cicatricial lesions are permanent and persist as fibrotic scars and nondraining tunnels, the latter reflecting the shells of prior draining tunnels. HS has a profound adverse impact on overall

Objective: Polycystic ovary syndrome is frequently associated with hyperandrogenemia-related hirsutism, which creates notable cosmetic concerns for many affected women. Although multiple antiandrogenic treatments exist, many patients remain dissatisfied, and combined oral contraceptives are often contraindicated due to metabolic and cardiovascular risk factors. This study evaluates whether a drospirenone-only pill improves hormonal profiles and hirsutism in PMOS compared to cyclic dydrogesterone. Methods: This retrospective cohort study assessed hyperandrogenemia and hirsutism using the modifi

OBJECTIVE: Small fiber neuropathy (SFN) is becoming increasingly recognized as a cause of autonomic dysfunction, sensory disturbances, and neuropathic pain. While SFN was previously considered predominantly idiopathic, cases of autoimmune SFN are now well described in adults but remain underexplored in children.
METHODS: In this retrospective chart review, we identified pediatric patients diagnosed with SFN of suspected autoimmune etiology. SFN was diagnosed based on epidermal nerve fiber density (ENFD) and/or sweat gland nerve fiber density (SGNFD) values from skin biopsy and/or quantitative

INTRODUCTION: Papulopustular rosacea (PPR) remains a significant clinical and psychosomatic challenge in dermatological practice.
AIM: To examine the clinical utility and interventional impact of red and blue light therapy in conjunction with paroxetine on serum inflammatory markers, anxiety, and depression in PPR patients.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: 120 PPR patients who were treated at our institution between May 2021 and March 2025 were the subject of a retrospective research. Patients were assigned to an observation group (n = 60) receiving red-blue light therapy with paroxetine, or to a contr

INTRODUCTION: Alopecia areata (AA) is an autoimmune hair loss disorder often triggered by genetic and environmental factors. Acute, massive shedding is unusual and may indicate a potent immune trigger.
CASE PRESENTATION: We report a 34-year-old woman with Hashimoto thyroiditis who developed rapid, diffuse AA 10 days after bee stings. Clinical examination showed marked hair loss (SALT score 30→70) affecting scalp, eyebrows, and eyelashes. Laboratory workup revealed elevated IgE and venom-specific hypersensitivity. Treatment with corticosteroid pulses followed by oral methylprednisolone and met

Severe alopecia areata (AA) in adolescents carries a substantial physical, psychological, social, and economic burden. Three Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors, ritlecitinib, baricitinib, and upadacitinib, are now authorized in the European Union (EU) for the treatment of severe AA in both adults and adolescents, although only ritlecitinib and baricitinib are currently approved for adolescents in the United States (US). Current clinical experience in adolescents remains limited, particularly for upadacitinib and baricitinib, given their very recent introduction in the EU and US. Upadacitinib is cur

Atopic dermatitis (AD), bullous pemphigoid (BP), and alopecia areata (AA) are immune-mediated dermatologic diseases characterized by distinct clinical features but partially overlapping immunopathogenic mechanisms. Their coexistence in a single patient is uncommon and may pose significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. We report the case of a 33-year-old woman with long-standing moderate-to-severe AD who subsequently developed BP, confirmed by histopathology and direct immunofluorescence. Initial treatment with systemic corticosteroids and conventional immunosuppressants, including aza

Buschke-Löwenstein tumor (BLT), also known as giant condyloma acuminatum, is a rare human papillomavirus-associated lesion characterized by locally aggressive growth with the potential for malignant transformation. Diagnosis may be particularly challenging when BLT arises in the setting of severe chronic inflammatory disease. We present a 44-year-old man with severe hidradenitis suppurativa, well-controlled HIV infection, recurrent gluteal abscesses, and chronic sacral osteomyelitis who presented with worsening perineal pain and chronic drainage. Although imaging demonstrated extensive infiltr

Background: Less than 0.1% of ovarian cancers are ovarian steroid cell tumors, which are very uncommon sex cord-stromal neoplasms. A rare and usually benign form, stromal luteomas primarily affect postmenopausal women. These tumors can have major hormonal consequences despite their small size. The most common symptom is estrogen excess; androgen release with virilization is uncommon and might be challenging to spot, especially when imaging is subtle. Case Presentation: A 57-year-old postmenopausal woman presented with a three-year history of escalating hyperandrogenism, which included clitorom

Androgenetic alopecia remains challenging to treat, with limited FDA-approved therapies. Natural products, such as the fruit of Sophora japonica L. (Fructus Sophorae), could be alternatives. This study developed a green extraction method using natural deep eutectic solvents (NADESs) coupled with ultrasonic assistance to recover active phytochemicals from Fructus Sophorae and evaluated the extract for promoting hair growth and melanogenic activities. Among ten NADES formulations, ChCl-Urea (1:2) with 40% water content, named CU-40, generated the highest yield of sophoricoside (8.79 mg/g), surpa

INTRODUCTION: Current treatments for androgenetic alopecia (AGA) primarily suppress androgen signaling or stimulate hair growth. Recent single-cell and spatial transcriptomic studies identify fibroimmune remodeling as a potential source of new AGA targets.
AREAS COVERED: This review integrates transcriptomic and mechanistic evidence linking androgen-responsive fibroblasts, immune-cell recruitment, and extracellular matrix remodeling, in male and female pattern hair loss. Herein, the authors assessed published human scalp, cell and animal studies of JAK/STAT, TGF-β, CXCL12-CXCR4/ACKR3, and DKK

Background/Objectives: Frontal fibrosing alopecia (FFA) and lichen planopilaris (LPP) are primary lymphocytic cicatricial alopecias with frequently reported systemic and dermatological comorbidities, although their prevalence and consistency across studies remain uncertain. Methods: We conducted a systematic review and random-effects prevalence meta-analysis following PRISMA 2020 and Joanna Briggs Institute guidance, prospectively registered in PROSPERO (CRD420250656067). MEDLINE, Embase, ClinicalTrials.gov, preprint sources, and reference lists were searched from inception to 18 June 2025 for

Background: Gut microbiota dysregulation has been implicated in hair loss via the gut-skin axis, but human interventional data are limited. We previously showed that Bifidobacterium longum HK003 reverses alopecia-like phenotypes in mice. Methods: We conducted an open-label, single-arm pilot study to evaluate an HK003-containing synbiotic (HQP08) in 32 adults with self-reported hair loss over 8 weeks. The primary endpoint was the proportion of participants reporting improvement on the Patient Global Impression of Change (PGI-C) scale at week 8. Secondary outcomes included changes in hair loss s

BACKGROUND: Hair cycle arrest (HCA), known as alopecia X, is an alopecia disorder most commonly reported in Nordic breeds-particularly Pomeranians. Toy poodles (TPs) also are frequently affected, yet their clinical characteristics have not been reviewed systematically.
OBJECTIVES: The aim of this retrospective case series was to compare the clinical characteristics of HCA in TPs and Pomeranians.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Medical records of client-owned dogs diagnosed with HCA between 2018 and 2024 were reviewed. Signalment, including age of onset and age at diagnosis, clinical features, skin ba

Primary hyperhidrosis substantially impairs quality of life. Conventional sympathectomy risks compensatory hyperhidrosis through trunk disruption, whilst selective sympathectomy preserves the trunk while dividing preganglionic and postganglionic fibres. We describe a technique refinement and a previously undescribed anatomical variant. A 23-year-old man had severe refractory palmar, axillary, plantar and gustatory hyperhidrosis (SSDS 4) profoundly affecting his confidence, social functioning and mental wellbeing, despite conservative management. He underwent staged bilateral robotic selective

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is increasingly recognised in patients with chronic inflammatory skin disease, particularly psoriasis, for which epidemiological evidence of increased MASLD prevalence is relatively strong; corresponding data in hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) remain more limited. This narrative review examines the epidemiological and biological links between psoriasis, HS and MASLD, and evaluates dietary and nutritional strategies relevant to their multidisciplinary management. Particular emphasis is placed on distinguishing direct evidence in pat

INTRODUCTION: Neurogenic rosacea is a distinct phenotype of rosacea characterized by persistent facial erythema, flushing, burning, and stinging, and it often responds poorly to conventional therapies. Increasing evidence suggests that gut microbiota dysbiosis may be involved in the pathogenesis of NR. Fecal microbiota transplantation may provide a novel therapeutic strategy by restoring microbial homeostasis.
OBJECTIVE: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of FMT in patients with NR and to explore its potential mechanisms through modulation of the gut microbiota.
