BACKGROUND: Hereditary gingival fibromatosis (HGF) is one of the categories of non-plaque-induced gingival diseases of genetic origin. Current studies show high genetic heterogeneity and suggest that not all forms of HGF are the same and that more than one biological mechanism may result in gingival growth. BACKGROUND: Non-selective sodium leak channel (NALCN) protein encoded by the NALCN gene is of key importance for neuronal cell excitability. Previous reports showed that biallelic NALCN pathogenic variants cause infantile hypotonia with psychomotor retardation and characteristic facies 1 (IHPRF1) while monoallelic variants lead to congenital contractures of the limbs and face, hypotonia, and developmental delay (CLIFAHDD). The objective of our study was to analyze the effectiveness of oral minoxidil on the frontotemporal hairline in patients with FFA. We conducted a retrospective, descriptive, multicenter study in 2 Brazilian and 1 Spanish centers. Responses were graded on a scale of 3 positive points. A total of 122 patients were included.
