Digital Skincare Marketing, Self-Experimentation, and Treatment Adherence in Acne Vulgaris: A Psychodermatological Review.

Acne vulgaris requires sustained treatment, yet adherence may weaken before meaningful improvement occurs, particularly when topical therapy causes xerosis, peeling, erythema, or stinging. Digital acne content can expand access to education and patient perspectives, but it also places clinical advice beside commercial claims, transformation narratives, and complex skincare routines without a consistent hierarchy of evidence. This narrative review examined evidence relevant to how psychodermatological vulnerability and digital skincare exposure may contribute to cosmetic self-experimentation, c

Deroofing combined with photodynamic therapy and secukinumab: An effective therapy for acne conglobates with underlying follicular occlusion spectrum diseases.

Severe acne conglobate (AC) with concurrent follicular occlusion diseases strongly resists standard therapies. Therefore, we evaluated a novel combined treatment for these complex cases. This retrospective study included eight male patients with refractory syndromic AC. First, patients underwent localized surgical deroofing to remove deep-seated lesions. Immediately afterward, we applied 20% ALA-PDT once weekly for three consecutive weeks. Concurrently, all patients received systemic secukinumab as maintenance therapy. Clinical and patient-reported outcomes were assessed at 64 weeks. The combi

Formulation of Benzoyl Peroxide Microsponge-based Transdermal Gel for Acne Infection and Its Evaluation.

BACKGROUND: Benzoyl peroxide is a peroxide with antibacterial, irritating, keratolytic, comedolytic, and anti-inflammatory properties. When benzoyl peroxide is applied topically, it breaks down and releases oxygen, which kills the germs of Propionibacterium acnes. Benzoyl peroxide's irritating impact causes an increase in epithelial cell turnover, which causes the skin to peel and aids in the healing of comedones. Treatment for acne vulgaris involves the use of benzoyl peroxide. OBJECTIVE: The research is aimed at studying the formulation of Microsponge gel preparation of benzoyl peroxide by

Lipid-Based Nanocarriers as a Promising Delivery System in the Management of Acne.

INTRODUCTION: Acne vulgaris is a prevalent dermatological condition resulting from inflammation, follicular hyperkeratinization, and bacterial growth. Standard treatments, whether topical or oral, frequently encounter challenges such as limited skin penetration, drug instability, and undesirable side effects. The report found that lipid-based nanocarriers have emerged as a promising alternative, demonstrating the potential for enhanced therapeutic effectiveness, better skin bioavailability, controlled drug release, and targeted delivery specifically to sebaceous glands, which help minimize sys

Current and Emerging Drug Therapy for Acne Vulgaris: A Comprehensive Review.

Acne vulgaris is a highly prevalent chronic inflammatory disorder of the pilosebaceous unit that affects the majority of adolescents and young adults. Its pathogenesis is multifactorial and is driven largely by hormonal dysregulation, which promotes excess sebum production and follicular hyperkeratinisation, resulting in pore occlusion and the characteristic inflammatory lesions accompanied by swelling and erythema. Acne is caused by Cutibacterium acnes, which colonizes and activates acquired and innate immune responses. Acne is also produced owing to stimulation of the IGF-1 factor, disturban

Modulation of sebocyte function in acne: A pathway-inclusive review.

Advances in molecular dermatology have deepened our understanding of acne pathogenesis. Yet, most available therapies focus on downstream inflammatory and microbial manifestations, whereas upstream sebocyte dysregulation, which drives disease initiation, persistence and relapse, remains a less direct therapeutic target. This review synthesizes current evidence on the molecular regulation of sebocyte biology and examines therapeutic implications of a sebocyte-centred disease model. Key regulatory pathways are discussed, including peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ (PPARγ)-dependent tr

Should the Traditional Algorithm for Syphilis Screening be Abandoned? Neurosyphilis Presenting as Limbic Encephalitis: A Prozone False-Negative RPR Missed by an RPR-Only Initial Screen.

INTRODUCTION: Neurosyphilis is a treatable mimic of viral and autoimmune limbic encephalitis. The prozone phenomenon-antibody excess preventing the antigen-antibody lattice-can render an undiluted non-treponemal test such as the rapid plasma reagin (RPR) test falsely negative, with reactivity restored on dilution. CASE DESCRIPTION: A 37-year-old man presented with seizures and rapidly progressive limbic encephalitis; Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with fluid-attenuated inversion recovery sequences showed hyperintensities in the amygdalae, periventricular regions, left insula and left

Development of a qPCR-based method for absolute quantification of facial skin bacteria considering DNA extraction efficiency.

The skin microbiome differs with age, and understanding the relationship between the microbial balance and skin health is valuable in skin healthcare. In this study, we developed a quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) method using TaqMan MGB probes to measure the abundance of indigenous skin bacteria. Representative facial skin bacteria (Cutibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus epidermidis, and Staphylococcus aureus) were detected and quantified with high sensitivity using specific primer sets and probes. C. acnes was divided into two groups for qPCR analysis: Group 1, which included major acne-associ

Potential of ginger essential oil/carboxymethyl cellulose nanoemulsions prepared with ultrasound for preserving of fresh-cut carrot.

Fractures, mostly of the hip and pelvis, wrist, and sometimes of the vertebra, account for nearly half of emergency department treatments for elderly individuals seen because of a fall. Bone density measurements show that more than half of these patients have osteoporosis. The notion that it is too late to start treatment in a late stage of the disease forms a barrier to treatment. The aim of this article is to evaluate the effectiveness of therapeutic options for osteoporosis in the elderly, with a view to reducing the incidence of fractures. Although most studies of fracture reduction with m
