[A Case of Testicular Epidermoid Cyst Treated by Tumor Enucleation].

Testicular epidermoid cysts are relatively rare benign testicular tumors that are primarily observed in young adults. Most testicular tumors in adults tend to be malignant, and high inguinal orchiectomy is often performed to treat testicular epidermoid cysts. However, accurate preoperative and intraoperative diagnoses can make testis-sparing surgery a viable option. A 25-year-old man presented with a painless mass in the right scrotum. Ultrasonography revealed a hypoechoic lesion with an echogenic rim and an onion ring sign. Magnetic resonance imaging showed the target sign in the right testis

Common Vulvar Neoplasms-Benign and Malignant.

Common vulvar neoplasms include benign lesions such as epidermal inclusion cysts, fibroepithelial polyps, and Bartholin gland tumors, as well as malignant entities including squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma, extramammary Paget disease, and sarcomas. Benign growths can closely resemble malignant processes, creating diagnostic challenges, while malignant tumors are associated with high morbidity and mortality. Advances in histopathology, imaging, and molecular techniques have improved diagnostic precision and informed more individualized therapeutic strategies. Comprehensive understanding of be

Management of Finegoldia magna-associated non-puerperal breast abscess in an adolescent: Integration of surgical source control and targeted antimicrobial therapy.

Finegoldia magna is an opportunistic anaerobic pathogen rarely causing non-puerperal breast abscess (NPBA) in adolescents. Its biofilm-forming capacity often complicates standard treatments. We report a 17-year-old female who presented with NPBA following influenza A and the rupture of an epidermal cyst. Anaerobic culture identified F. magna alongside Staphylococcus simulans. Guided by the patient's penicillin allergy and anaerobic resistance trends, systemic cefmetazole was administered. Concurrently, ultrasound-guided mechanical cavity debridement was performed, followed by percutaneous indw

Ultrasonography of pediatric cutaneous and subcutaneous masses.

Cutaneous and subcutaneous lumps are frequently encountered in the pediatric population and are usually benign. Although some lesions can be diagnosed clinically, ultrasound plays a pivotal role in evaluation by delineating lesion morphology, depth, extent, internal composition, and vascularity. Technological advances in high-frequency transducers and image resolution have significantly improved visualization of superficial soft tissues, enhancing diagnostic confidence. Despite substantial overlap in sonographic appearance among different lesions, specific imaging characteristics can help narr

Paraclitoral cystic lesions after female genital mutilation: a clinicopathologic evaluation from Mogadishu.

BACKGROUND: Female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C) is associated with long-term gynecologic complications, including delayed paraclitoral cystic lesions. However, the clinicopathologic spectrum and postoperative outcomes of these lesions remain insufficiently characterized, particularly in high-prevalence settings. METHODS: This single-center retrospective clinicopathologic study included women with a history of FGM/C who underwent surgical excision of paraclitoral lesions between January 2017 and March 2025. Clinical presentation, surgical management, histopathological findings, and posto

[Spinal epidermoid cyst: Iatrogenic neuraxial anesthesia?].

BACKGROUND: Dermoid and epidermoid tumors are rare lesions that affect the skull and spinal canal, with an incidence of ≈ 0.9% of cases. They are benign lesions originating from ectodermal tissue during embryonic development. They may be congenital or acquired, and the latter are usually secondary to iatrogenic causes (such as lumbar puncture, neuraxial anesthesia or surgical procedures) or to penetrating trauma. CASE REPORT: A 40-year-old woman with a history of 2 lumbar punctures for neuraxial anesthesia. 5 years after the last procedure, she started with low-intensity pain in the upper rig

Epidermoid Cyst of the Gingiva: A Rare Case Report and Literature Review.

Oral epidermoid cysts are developmental lesions that account for less than 0.04% of all reported cases and typically occur in the floor of the mouth; gingival involvement is exceedingly rare. This report describes a 23-year-old female presenting with an asymptomatic, whitish papule on the attached gingiva near the right mandibular canine. Histopathologically, the lesion showed a cystic cavity mainly lined by orthokeratinized stratified squamous epithelium containing lamellar keratin, without cutaneous adnexal structures in the fibrous connective tissue capsule. No recurrence was observed after

Postpartum bilateral lower-extremity palsy after labor epidural analgesia associated with a spinal epidermoid cyst: a case report.

Neurologic deficits after neuraxial labor analgesia are rare but require timely evaluation. We describe a multiparous woman who developed new bilateral ankle weakness and distal lower extremity paresthesia six hours after spontaneous vaginal delivery under neuraxial labor analgesia. Analgesia was provided with a dural puncture epidural technique, and two dural puncture epidural procedures were performed because the first epidural catheter was ineffective. No paresthesia or blood aspiration occurred during either procedure, and no motor block was observed during labor. According to our institut

Steatocystoma multiplex presenting with breast lumps: Diagnostic findings on mammography and ultrasound.

Steatocystoma multiplex is a benign skin disorder characterized by multiple oil cysts, often inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern. This case report describes a 70-year-old man who presented for mammography due to painless lumps on the chest and abdomen. The patient reported a history of these lesions for approximately 20 years and noted a family history of similar findings. Despite their benign nature, the imaging appearance of steatocystomas can mimic other fat-containing lesions and potentially prompt unnecessary workup. Management is typically conservative, focused on patient educatio

Epidermoid cysts of the cerebellopontine angle in pediatric population-an institutional surgical case series and review of literature.

INTRODUCTION: Epidermoid cysts (EC) are rare intracranial lesions, particularly uncommon in children, arising from ectodermal inclusions during neural tube closure. Although they are often located in the cerebellopontine angle (CPA), data on complication and recurrence rates after surgery for EC in this location in children remain limited. METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed data from children (≤ 18 years) surgically treated for EC in CPA at the Oslo University Hospital-Rikshospitalet between 2004 and 2024, with > 1 year of follow-up. Clinical presentation, imaging, and surgical outcomes wer

Spinal intradural epidermoid cysts in pediatric patients: illustrative cases and systematic review.

OBJECTIVE: Spinal intradural epidermoid cysts (sIECs) are rare, benign neoplasms comprising < 3% of intraspinal tumors in children. Their nonspecific clinical presentation and rarity often lead to diagnostic delays, particularly in the pediatric population. Authors of this study present 2 pediatric sIEC cases and conduct a systematic review of the literature to characterize the clinical features, management strategies, and outcomes of pediatric sIEC. METHODS: A systematic review was conducted according to PRISMA guidelines, searching the PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane databases

Malignant Transformation of Intracranial Epidermoid Tumors: A Systematic Review and Survival Analysis.

BACKGROUND: Intracranial epidermoid tumors (ETs) are rare, benign lesions that often arise within the cerebellopontine angle and are typically slow-growing with favorable outcomes. Malignant transformation is exceedingly rare and poorly understood, with limited data on imaging findings, medical and operative management, and overall survival. METHODS: We conducted a Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses-guided systematic review and pooled analysis of 68 patients from 58 studies with pathologically confirmed malignant transformation of intracranial ETs. Demystifying cutaneous cystic squamous cell carcinoma: a case report and review of the literature.

Cystic squamous cell carcinoma (cySCC) is a variant of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma that manifests clinically as a cystic lesion instead of a solid tumor. Owing to their benign appearance, accurate diagnosis and treatment are often delayed. We report a case of a 55-year-old male presenting with a scalp lesion. The patient was keen for removal of the lesion as it was bothersome, although there were no overt sinister features on history nor examination. An excision biopsy was performed and histopathological examination revealed a cySCC. A wider excision was subsequently performed and the pa

Initial clinical diagnosis of a pilar cyst revised to sebaceous carcinoma of the occipital scalp in a 36-year-old male: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Sebaceous carcinoma (SC) is a rare malignant tumor originating from skin appendages. Most cases occur in the periocular region, whereas extraocular SC accounts for only about 25% of cases and is especially rare on the scalp. Extraocular SC often presents without characteristic clinical features, frequently leading to misdiagnosis as benign lesions, such as epidermal cysts. Here, we report a 36-year-old male with an atypical presentation of extraocular SC in the occipital region, highlighting its diagnostic challenges and clinical importance. CASE DESCRIPTION: Our patient presented
