Triple A syndrome (AAAS) is a rare autosomal recessive neuroendocrine disorder caused by pathogenic variants in the AAAS gene and characterized by marked clinical heterogeneity. In this multicenter retrospective study, we analyzed 23 patients from 18 families diagnosed across nine centers in Türkiye to characterize the molecular and clinical features of AAAS. Six distinct vari-ants in the AAAS gene were identified in this cohort, with truncating variants predominating. The most frequent variant was c.1066_1067delCT (p.Leu356Valfs*8), detected in 7 of 18 families, followed by the nonsense varia

Horner syndrome is a well-recognized constellation of symptoms resulting from the disruption of the sympathetic pathway. It may occur in a variety of clinical contexts, including trauma, tumors, or iatrogenic causes. We report a rare case of transient Horner syndrome following rotator cuff repair with interscalene nerve block. Imaging ruled out structural or vascular causes. The syndrome resolved spontaneously by postoperative day 3. This case highlights the importance of clinician awareness regarding this benign but alarming postoperative complication. This case was presented as a meeting abs

Fabry disease (FD) is a rare X-linked lysosomal storage disorder caused by α-galactosidase A deficiency, resulting in progressive glycosphingolipid accumulation and multisystem morbidity. Early pediatric manifestations are frequently overlooked, delaying treatment and increasing the risk of irreversible organ damage. We describe a 14-year-old boy presenting with acroparesthesia, recurrent abdominal pain, exercise intolerance, and anhidrosis since early childhood. Clinical evaluation revealed peripheral neuropathy and short stature. Biochemical testing demonstrated nearly absent α-galactosidase

BACKGROUND: A well-established clinical association is recognized between primary hyperhidrosis (PH) and depression. However, the evidence about the prevalence of depression among people with PH is inconsistent, and there is currently no systematic review on the subject.
METHODS: This study systematically searched PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, Ovid MEDLINE, Web of Science, and PsycINFO for studies reporting on the prevalence of depression in people with PH from database inception to December 19, 2025. We included cross-sectional and cohort studies reporting depression prevalence, as well

UNLABELLED: Crisponi/Cold-Induced Sweating Syndrome Type 1 (CS/CISS1) is an ultra-rare genetic disorder caused by biallelic variants in the cytokine receptor-like factor-1 (CRLF1) gene and is associated with several comorbidities. Comprehensive data on the respiratory phenotype of this condition are lacking despite being associated with high mortality in infancy, often due to severe respiratory complications like aspiration pneumonia and sudden death related to hyperthermic crises. Our study investigates respiratory complications and lung ultrasound characteristics, enhancing the comprehension

Hidradenoma papilliferum is a benign neoplasm arising in the vulvovaginal region. These lesions are thought to originate from anogenital mammary-like glands and share morphologic and immunohistochemical features with breast tissue. Though rare, malignant transformation of hidradenoma papilliferum into mammary-type carcinoma, typically mammary-type ductal and mammary-type lobular carcinoma, has been documented. However, mammary-type metaplastic carcinoma arising from hidradenoma papilliferum is exceedingly rare. Herein, we describe a case of this entity in a patient presenting with a labial mas

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a painful, chronic inflammatory condition that forms recurring nodules and abscesses in skin folds, leading to severe scarring. While the exact pathogenesis is still being determined, it is thought to involve follicular occlusion and rupture, driven by multifactorial influences such as genetics, environment, hormones, microbiome, and immune dysregulation. The complex nature of this disease entails complicated management and has led to the development of various therapies targeting these different factors. While moderate-to-severe HS has seen growing therapeutic

The current hypothesis investigated the neurotrophic effect of magnolol (ML) against MPTP/p-induced neurotoxicity in Parkinson's disease (PD) mice, focusing on the molecular mechanisms of PI3K/Akt/GSK3β and MAPK signalling pathways. To determine the effective dose, 6 mice/group were employed for the dose-dependent study and brain-protective study. Behavioural deficits (open field test, narrow beam walking), dopamine (DA) depletion, lipid peroxidation, antioxidant levels, histology (H&E, PAS, and MT), inflammatory cytokines, DAT and VMAT2 expressions, SN region expressions of BDNF, GDNF, VEGF,

Hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathy type IV, commonly known as congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis (CIPA), is a rare autosomal recessive disorder. It is characterized by a profound dysfunction of the sensory and autonomic nervous systems, leading to a global inability to perceive pain or temperature alongside a complete absence of sweating. Clinically, affected individuals typically present with a classic triad of symptoms: severe analgesia, a total lack of pain perception that frequently results in self-mutilation (such as biting the tongue, lips, and fingertips), recurre

BACKGROUND: There are plausible mechanistic associations between hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) and peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD), which has significant clinical implications.
OBJECTIVES: This study investigated the risk of incident PAOD in patients with HS.
METHODS: A retrospective cohort study using the TriNetX research network was conducted. Patients with HS were matched 1 : 1 with an HS-free control group based on demographic and clinical factors. The primary outcome was the incidence of PAOD, analysed using hazard ratios (HRs) and Kaplan-Meier curves over a 15-year follow-

Parkinson's disease (PD) is characterized by pathological α-synuclein (α-syn) aggregation, yet the origin of α-syn pathology (central or peripheral) remains debated. The synuclein origin and connectome model proposes two subtypes, i.e. brain-first (pathology initiating in brain structures) and body-first (originating in peripheral autonomic nerves) subtypes. In this study, we aimed to delineate cutaneous α-syn signatures between these subtypes to validate the synuclein origin and connectome model. In this cross-sectional study, 126 brain-first PD patients, 79 body-first PD patients and 60 heal

PURPOSE: To establish an in vivo database of human cone photoreceptor inner segment diameter evaluated across the lifespan.
METHODS: Non-confocal split detection adaptive optics (AO) imaging was performed in 28 eyes of 28 healthy subjects (14 females and 14 males; 45.1 ± 20.7 years, ranging from 12-84 years). Cone photoreceptor inner segments were semi-automatically segmented and cone diameters measured from the AO images across eccentricities ranging from 1.0 to 6.0 mm temporal to the fovea. A linear mixed-effects model was used to assess the relationship between cone diameter and sex as wel

BACKGROUND: Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) causes significant morbidity in children. Treatment patterns across sex, race, and ethnicity in pediatric HS have not been thoroughly evaluated. We aim to characterize treatment patterns in pediatric HS, including (1) time to treatment initiation, (2) first prescribed HS treatment, and (3) time to switching following initial therapy across demographic factors.
METHODS: We conducted a real-world, retrospective cohort study of patients < 18 years with a HS diagnosis, using a large U.S. national electronic health record database (2005-2025). Treatments p

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a severe chronic relapsing inflammatory disease of the hair follicle unit, characterized by painful nodules, abscesses, tunnels and tracts in intertriginous areas. Although the pathogenic mechanisms of HS have not yet been fully elucidated, genetics is a central component of its pathogenesis, and understanding relevant genetic factors is essential for gaining insights into the molecular mechanisms of HS. We conducted a comprehensive review of common and rare associations between HS and chromosomal and genetic diseases, exploring the pathogenetic links between t

Acne and hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) are inflammatory disorders of the pilosebaceous unit that exhibit distinct clinical manifestations, indicating that they likely differ in their underlying pathophysiology. Microbial dysbiosis is implicated in both diseases, yet direct comparisons using unified methods and analyses incorporating the oral microbiome are lacking. In this study, we collected lesional and nonlesional skin, buccal mucosa and faecal samples from 28 HS patients, 29 acne patients and 40 healthy controls, and profiled microbial communities using 16S rRNA V3-V4 sequencing with qPCR
