Green Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles From Macaranga tanarius (L.) Mull. Arg. Leaf Extract With Enhanced Antibacterial, Antioxidant, and Tyrosinase Inhibitory Activities.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder characterized by microbial imbalance, particularly the overgrowth of Staphylococcus aureus. This study reports the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using Macaranga tanarius extract (MTE) and evaluates their in vitro antibacterial and bioactive properties. The synthesized MT-AgNPs exhibited a distinct surface plasmon resonance (SPR) peak at 430 nm, with TEM revealing predominantly spherical morphologies (mean size: 29.2 nm; range: 6-87 nm). Phytochemical analysis confirmed that MTE is rich in polyphenols (2429 ± 33.7

Clinical Effects and Safety of Radiofrequency Microneedling for the Management of Melasma: A Retrospective Study.

BACKGROUND: Melasma is a chronic hyperpigmentary disorder that is difficult to treat in patients with Fitzpatrick phototypes III to VI because of the risk of postinflammatory hyperpigmentation. Radiofrequency microneedling (RFMN) is an emerging modality that targets dermal photoaging while minimizing epidermal injury. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical effectiveness and safety of POTENZA RFMN in patients with melasma in a real-world retrospective cohort. METHODS: The authors conducted a retrospective pre-post observational study of adults with clinically diagnosed

Improvement of Post-inflammatory Hyperpigmentation in a Second-Degree Burn Scar Following the NewMelan Depigmentation Protocol: A Case Report.

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is a common sequela of second-degree burns and may result in persistent discoloration after complete wound healing. This case report describes a 65-year-old woman who developed persistent hyperpigmentation of the abdominal skin following a friction-induced second-degree burn associated with prolonged use of a compression garment. Despite complete wound healing and subsequent abdominoplasty, residual hyperpigmentation persisted. A more specific classification of the original burn as superficial or deep partial-thickness was not documented at the time of injur

Quantitative Histopathologic Analysis of Pigmentation and Melanophage Distribution in Dermal Postinflammatory Hyperpigmentation.

BACKGROUND: Dermal postinflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) is frequently refractory to treatment, and therapeutic response is thought to depend on the depth and distribution of dermal pigment. Key quantitative histopathologic features, however, remain poorly defined. METHODS: Ninety-five biopsy-proven cases of dermal PIH were analyzed. Fontana-Masson-stained sections underwent image analysis to quantify epidermal and dermal pigmentation intensity, melanophage density, cross-sectional area, and depth. Associations with inflammatory etiology, Fitzpatrick skin type (FST), and sun-exposure statu

The Influence of Sunscreen Use on Skin Pigmentation Disorders: Melasma, Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation, and Vitiligo.

Skin pigmentation is influenced by multiple factors, with sun exposure being one of the most important. Therefore, sun protection plays a central role in the prevention and treatment of pigmentation disorders. This work analysed the recent literature (2015-2025) on the influence of sun protection in melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and vitiligo, highlighting therapeutic advances and the impact of sunscreen use in both the prevention and treatment of these conditions. A search was conducted in the PubMed and SCOPUS databases using MeSH terms, selecting original research studies in

Multiple Furuncular Cutaneous Myiasis in a 4-Month-Old Infant in an Urban Setting: A Case Report From Cameroon.

Furuncular cutaneous myiasis is a parasitic infestation of the skin by dipteran larvae, commonly reported in tropical Africa, and underreported in infants. We report the case of a 4-month-old male infant from Yaoundé, Cameroon, who presented with incessant crying and a rapidly progressive skin eruption over 4 days. Examination revealed multiple inflammatory nodules at varying stages of development; serous fluid was observed exuding from a central punctum, with intermittent larval movement. Environmental history identified risk factors, including poor household hygiene, drying clothes in shaded

Towards credible digital twins for basic and preclinical research.

Atomoxetine (Strattera(R)) is a selective norepinephrine (noradrenaline) reuptake inhibitor that is not classified as a stimulant, and is indicated for use in patients with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Atomoxetine is effective and generally well tolerated. It is significantly more effective than placebo and standard current therapy and does not differ significantly from or is noninferior to immediate-release methylphenidate; however, it is significantly less effective than the extended-release methylphenidate formulation OROS(R) methylphenidate (hereafter referred to as osm

Mechanism of activation of an ancestral TEC kinase by PIP3.

BACKGROUND: The introduction of second-generation antipsychotics (SGAs) over the past 2 decades generated considerable optimism that better antipsychotic treatments for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder were possible. SGAs offer several tolerability benefits over first-generation antipsychotics (FGAs), particularly with respect to extrapyramidal symptoms. However, SGAs can induce serious metabolic dysregulations, especially in drug-naive, first-episode, and child and adolescent populations, with olanzapine and clozapine having the highest propensity to cause these abnormalities. In this conte

Establishing an animal model for post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation following fractional CO2 laser application.

BACKGROUND: Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) is a common cosmetic concern, often leading to significant psychological distress for the patients. With the widespread application of lasers including ablative fractional resurfacing (AFR) with a 10,600 nm CO2 laser, PIH caused by lasers is becoming increasingly common. But due to the absence of an appropriate animal research model, our understanding of pathophysiological mechanisms and preventive strategies for PIH remains limited. METHODS: This study aimed to establish an animal model to investigate PIH following AFR CO2 laser applicati
