AIMS: The purpose of this research was to characterize CYP2D6, GST-M1 and GST-T1 enzyme expression in human parathyroid tissue, and to determine whether or not there is any association between deficiencies in these enzymes and serum parathyroid hormone concentrations in patients with end-stage renal disease.

A case of Neurofibromatosis I (NFI) occurring in association with symmetrical peripheral nerve enlargement and multiple hypopigmented macules strikingly limited to the neurofibromas, with normal to minimally reduced sensations, evoking a strong clinical suspicion of co-existent lepromatous leprosy, is being reported. Leprosy was ruled out by microbiological, histopathological and electrophysiological studies. The case is interesting in view of the hypopigmented macules overlying the neurofibromas, which is an unreported feature of NFI.

We performed a retrospective study in order to characterize epidemiological data and signs of systemic scleroderma in Sénégal. All patients with the diagnosis according the ACR's criteria of scleroderma were recruited. We included 92 patients, the mean age was 33 years and sex ratio male to female was 0.19 (15 men and 77 women). There were 8 children in our series (8.9%). The initial complaints were cutaneous manifestations (64%) and Raynaud's syndrome (16.3%). BACKGROUND: Amelanotic/hypomelanotic melanoma often leads to delayed clinical diagnosis because its clinical appearance can mimic other hypopigmented skin conditions. Dermatoscopy (dermoscopy, epiluminescence microscopy) is thought to be a helpful diagnostic tool in pigmented skin lesions, but it can be used also in non-pigmented skin tumors due to the recognition of vascular structures not visible to the naked eye.

Adverse reaction to cosmetics constitute a small but significant number of cases of contact dermatitis with varied appearances.
