Thirty-two confirmed cases of non -Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) were examined for cutaneous manifestations for a period of 2 years from November 1998 in KMC Hospital Attavar, Mangalore. Cutaneous manifestations in the study group were compared to a control group of 32 patients. Specific infiltrates were present in all (5/5) CTCL patients and one out of twenty-seven patients with low grade NHL. Morphologically they presented as papules, plaques, nodules and erythroderma. Acquired ichthyosis in adults may reflect internal disease, viz. internal malignancy, especially Hodgkin's lymphoma or sarcoidosis. We report a patient who developed ichthyosiform sarcoidosis over a year after completion of 6 cycles of combination chemotherapy for Hodgkin's disease. To our knowledge, the development of ichthyosiform sarcoidosis after chemotherapy for Hodgkin's disease has not been described earlier.

Malignancy-associated acquired ichthyosis is well known, but the ichthyosiform subset of mycosis fungoides (MF) is rarely reported. We report on two patients with a clinical presentation for whom diagnosis of mycosis fungoides was established on histological grounds. In both cases, long term remission was obtained with non aggressive therapies. This rare condition must be added to newly described forms of MF with epidermal hyperplasia such as keratosis lichenoides chronica like MF and pilotropic MF.

Diabetes has not been linked to acquired ichthyosis or ichthyosis vulgaris. We report a newly diagnosed diabetic 14-year-old girl with bilateral tibial and sacral ichthyosiform plaques and a hemoglobin A1c of 20.1%. The patient had no personal or family history of atopy or ichthyosis and lacked keratosis pilaris or hyperlinear palms. Anaplastic, CD30(+), large-cell lymphoma (ALCL) is a subtype of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma that accounts for 2% to 8% of all lymphomas. Acquired ichthyosis is an important clinical finding; internal malignancy, systemic disease and medication are recognised associations. We present a 70-year-old lady with acquired ichthyosis and leiomyosarcoma, one of the less frequently associated malignancies. An additional unusual finding was generalised thinning and loss of pigment affecting her hair. Scalp biopsy showed histological evidence of ichthyosis. Following resection of the tumour the ichthyosis resolved and there was regrowth of darker hair.

Acquired ichthyosis (AI) has rarely been described following bone marrow transplantation (BMT). We report a 29-year-old male, who underwent allogeneic peripheral blood stem cell transplantation (alloPBSCT) for chronic myelogenous leukemia, and who developed AI associated with chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD).
