Background: Diabetic wounds represent a major clinical challenge due to persistent inflammation, oxidative stress, and impaired angiogenesis. Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) have strong regenerative potential, and their therapeutic effects and optimization strategies for diabetic wounds warrant further exploration. Objective: This study aimed to improve the therapeutic efficacy of BMSCs in diabetic wound healing via chrysin pretreatment, as well as to evaluate the healing capacity and molecular mechanisms of the derived chrysin-pretreated BMSC-conditioned medium (Chrysin-CM). Method

BACKGROUND: Skin wounds, encompassing acute injuries and chronic refractory ulcers, impose substantial physical and economic burdens globally. While animal models are indispensable for dissecting wound healing pathophysiology and testing therapeutic interventions, the discordance between preclinical findings and clinical outcomes remains a critical challenge.
METHODS: To provide a standardized reference for model selection, we conducted a systematic review in accordance with PRISMA guidelines. We comprehensively searched PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus for studies published between January

Inorganic polyphosphate (polyP) is a metabolically relevant biopolymer involved in cellular energy storage and ATP-dependent tissue repair, including skin regeneration and wound healing. Here, a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)-compliant sodium polyphosphate formulation (Na-polyP-GMP) was developed and evaluated for regenerative applications, with a commercial polyP preparation used for comparison. Na-polyP-GMP exhibited enhanced physicochemical properties, characterized by a narrow, physiologically relevant chain length distribution and a fully amorphous structure, features associated with i

BACKGROUND: The TIME therapeutic model is used for the management of chronic wounds: Tissue (non-viable); Infection/Inflammation; Moisture (imbalance); Edges (non-advancing). These four components will determine the persistence or the healing of any chronic ulcer on the skin's surface and, by analogy, also those of the ulcerated epithelium at the subgingival level. We aimed to evaluate the clinical and microbiological changes recorded after implementation of this personalized subgingival model.
METHODS: Twelve patients with active periodontal or peri-implant pockets were recruited for a feasi

Type II diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is one of the most prevalent diseases in the United States and is associated with diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) and their impaired, often chronic, wound healing. The T2DM mouse model with dysfunctional leptin receptor (db/db) has been used in basic and translational studies of wound healing due to its systemic phenotypes (hyperphagia, hypometabolism, obesity, T2DM) and its notable delayed skin wound healing. However, a characterization of the temporal cellular dynamics of the db/db wound healing model has not been performed, nor has the model been systematically c

Chronic venous disease (CVD) is a common disease, affecting up to 20% of the general population. In later clinical stages of venous refluxive disease dwelling oedema, skin changes and leg ulcers can occur. Therapeutic options comprise compression therapy and several minimal-invasive as well as open surgery treatments. Venous leg ulcers, as well as mixed arterial-venous leg ulcers inflict high socioeconomic and health care system burden. Despite both the high prevalence as well as the high cost, timely and effective treatment are often delayed. Thus, this review summarizes all of these mentione

BACKGROUND: Severe mosquito bite allergy (SMBA) is characterized by intense local necrotic skin reactions accompanied by systemic symptoms following mosquito bites. SMBA is currently classified within the spectrum of EBV-positive T/natural killer (NK)-cell lymphoproliferative disorders (LPDs) and is recognized as a specific cutaneous manifestation of chronic active EBV disease (CAEBVD), with a potential risk of progression to overt T/NK-cell leukemia or lymphoma.
CASE PRESENTATION: Herein, we report a rare case of a 70-year-old male diagnosed with EBV-associated NK-cell LPD manifesting primar

The persistent non-healing of cutaneous wounds in diabetic patients represents a critical clinical challenge requiring urgent resolution. Excessive inflammation, impaired angiogenesis, and aberrant collagen remodeling profoundly hinder wound recovery. This study explores the potential therapeutic value of miR-221-3p in diabetic cutaneous wound healing using murine models. Subcutaneous administration of miR-221-3p was associated with accelerated wound closure; histological staining and Western blot analyses showed decreased expression of inflammatory markers (IL-1β, IL-6, MPO, CD68), increased

Lymphomatoid granulomatosis is a rare lymphoproliferative disease caused by dysfunction of host surveillance of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-infected B cells, which predominantly affects male adults, with a median onset at 46 years. Diagnosis can be challenging due to its nonspecific symptoms and the need for careful histopathological evaluation, particularly in atypical presentations. Here, we present a case of a 42-year-old Black man from Senegal with no past medical history who presented with a chronic, non-healing ulcer on his right upper extremity that had worsened over six months. Family his

BACKGROUND: Catastrophic antiphospholipid syndrome is a rare variant of antiphospholipid syndrome where the presence of antiphospholipid antibodies and systemic inflammation leads to the rapid onset of multifocal thrombosis. Eosinophilia is known to accompany conditions such as allergy, parasite infection, malignancy, or autoimmune diseases; however, catastrophic antiphospholipid syndrome with eosinophilia has not been reported and its clinical influence remains unknown. We describe the first case of probable catastrophic antiphospholipid syndrome with eosinophilia, which mimicked eosinophil-a

Oral cavity metastases are uncommon and may clinically present as swelling or mass formation. Pyogenic granuloma is a benign periodontal lesion that often appears as a bleeding mass. Both lesions can develop around dental implants, complicating diagnosis. This report presents a lung carcinoma metastasis mimicking peri-implant pyogenic granuloma lesion.

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a common benign vascular lesion characterized by rapid growth and a tendency to bleed. This case series presents 5 patients with solitary PG lesions successfully treated with the topical application of table salt under occlusion. All patients achieved complete clinical and dermoscopic resolution without scarring or recurrence, and treatment was well tolerated with high patient satisfaction. Given its simplicity, safety, and cost-effectiveness, topical salt application may represent a valuable noninvasive alternative for managing PG.

Pyogenic granuloma is a benign vascular lesion that may bleed repeatedly and impair daily activities. Although ramucirumab is an anti-angiogenic agent, paradoxical pyogenic granuloma has rarely been reported during its use. We describe a 75-year-old man with advanced lung adenocarcinoma who developed multiple bleeding pyogenic granulomas during docetaxel plus ramucirumab therapy. Histopathology confirmed lobular capillary proliferation consistent with pyogenic granuloma. Because the lesions repeatedly bled and reduced quality of life, they were excised and ramucirumab was discontinued. The pat

BACKGROUND: Surgical removal of a mass in the external jugular vein requires precise localization to ensure optimal cosmetic outcomes. While preoperative imaging is standard, intraoperative anatomical shifts can occur. We report a case where a near-infrared vein visualization device was used as a supplementary tool during the excision of an intraluminal thrombus.
CASE DESCRIPTION: A 50-year-old woman presented, complaining of a subcutaneous mass in the left neck. She used a sports bra for the previous 6 weeks to participate in a marathon race. Ultrasonography revealed an intraluminal mass ari

Lupus erythematosus panniculitis or lupus erythematosus profundus (LEP) is a rare manifestation of cutaneous lupus erythematosus, with an estimated prevalence of 2%-3% in those with either systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) or discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE). LEP with involvement of the breasts is termed lupus mastitis (LM). Its presentation is heterogenous, with epidermal changes, erythema, violaceous skin changes, lipoatrophy, and ulceration with or without breast masses. LM may resemble breast malignancy; however, the clinical course, laboratory investigations, and imaging may often diffe

INTRODUCTION: Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitors, including tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), are associated with paronychia and pyogenic granuloma-like lesions (PGLs) that significantly impair patients' quality of life. Topical beta-blockers emerge as a non-invasive and promising therapy for such adverse events. This meta-analysis evaluated the efficacy of topical beta-blockers for EGFR inhibitor-induced paronychia and PGLs.
METHOD: In accordance with the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, multiple databases were searched for relevant studies. The primary outcomes were overall response

Pyogenic granuloma is a common benign, non-neoplastic inflammatory hyperplasia of keratinized tissue, typically arising in response to chronic irritation, trauma, or hormonal influences. Recently it has been classified under vascular tumor and termed as a lobular capillary hemangioma by International Society for the Study of Vascular Anomalies. It presents as a solitary, hemorrhagic, often pedunculated, nodules of variable size which typically appears most of the times in the gingiva. This report presents the case of a 43-year-old male with a pyogenic granuloma on the floor of the mouth. This

Erosive pustular dermatosis of the lower legs (EPDL) is a rarely diagnosed, chronic inflammatory skin disease that occurs predominantly in elderly people. Predisposing factors include skin atrophy, chronic venous insufficiency, and trauma. Although the pathogenesis of EPDL has not yet been conclusively clarified, there are ongoing discussions on its nature as a neutrophilic dermatosis in which exogenous triggers lead to immunological dysregulation with local skin damage. Clinically, EPDL manifests with superficial, sterile pustules from which sharply defined erosions develop. The predilection
