A 66-year-old man presented with a pedunculated papule measuring 9.0 mm in the left inguinal region. Excision was performed based on the clinical hypotheses of soft fibroma and pyogenic granuloma. Histopathologic evaluation demonstrated invagination of the epidermis, with a tubular tortuous path showing the presence of squamous cells and goblet cells rich in mucin, and adjacent epithelium showing acanthosis, papillomatosis, and hyperkeratosis, with a diagnosis of mucinous syringometaplasia. This is a rare entity, with 19 cases reported to date, including the present case, usually clinically di

PURPOSE: Traumatic fingertip amputations are one of the most encountered injuries in the emergency department requiring evaluation by a hand surgeon. Current management strategies vary widely. We describe the use of acellular urinary bladder matrix (UBM) in complex distal fingertip injuries involving bone, soft tissue, and nailbed.
METHODS: A prospective cohort of 47 patients with proximal fingertip amputations (36 Allen zone III and 15 Allen zone IV) underwent UBM application with resultant fingertip regeneration. Patients received the first application in the operating room. Subsequent appl

Background and Clinical Significance: Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the third most common cancer that metastasizes to the oral and maxillofacial region following breast and lung cancers. Metastatic involvement in the oral cavity is rare and can present as a diagnostic challenge due to non-specific clinical features that mimic other benign or malignant conditions. The limited information available regarding oral metastasis of RCC highlights the importance of recognizing this uncommon presentation. Case Presentation: A 50-year-old female presented with a painful swelling in the buccal and palata

Gingiva is one of the common sites for many reactive, benign and malignant lesions. Localized gingival overgrowths usually present with a wide variety of clinical and histopathological features, and it will create a challenge for proper diagnosis. We report a case of a 48-year-old male patient with a slow-growing swelling on the lower anterior gingiva, extending to the floor of the mouth. A differential diagnosis of pyogenic granuloma or salivary gland neoplasm was considered. The lesion was diagnosed as clear cell variant of calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumour after the histopathological

Angiofibrolipomas are one of the rarest variants of lipoma, a benign mesenchymal tumor composed of adipose tissue. Histologic examination of angiofibrolipomas reveals mature adipocytes, vascular tissue, and fibrous connective tissue. This case report describes an angiofibrolipoma in the oral cavity of a 40-year-old woman. A soft, painless, pedunculated mass was attached to the distolingual gingiva in the region of the mandibular third molar. The provisional diagnosis was pyogenic granuloma. The mass was excised using electrocautery, and the tissue was submitted for histologic examination. Hist

Kaposiform hemangioendothelioma (KHE) is a locally aggressive vascular tumor in neonates and children. KHE can occur anywhere in the body, but occurrence in the oral cavity is exceptionally rare. The clinical features of KHE are similar to those of oral lesions, such as infantine hemangioma, pyogenic granuloma, and chronic periodontitis. However, unlike other oral lesions, KHE invades neighboring tissue planes and recurs frequently as malignancy. Moreover, some instances of KHE are accompanied by a life-threatening condition named Kasabach-Merritt phenomenon. Correct diagnosis of KHE is very d

A 34-year-old male with no significant past medical history presented for evaluation of a 15-year, growing, 8-mm, red eroded nodule with collarette of scale on his left fifth toe that appeared after a distant history of trauma. On initial examination, the lesion was clinically suspected to be a pyogenic granuloma. At this visit, a shave biopsy was performed revealing a soft white subcutaneous mass that was easily removed from the surrounding dermis. Histology revealed a soft-tissue mass with biphasic proliferation of elongated spindle cells with tapered nuclei occurring in compact cellular foc

PURPOSE: To describe a case of an intravascular lobular capillary hemangioma arising in the temporal artery of an older patient.
OBSERVATION: Lobular capillary hemangiomas (LCHs) are common benign vascular tumors previously described in literature as arising in the skin and mucous membranes of children and young adults. They have very rarely been characterized as arising from the temporal artery or being present in older adults. This report details the case of a 60-year-old man with reported history of intermittent blurry vision and jaw pain, headaches, and fatigue with bilateral shoulder and

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a malignancy that can, in rare cases, present initially with cutaneous metastases, often reflecting an advanced stage. We report the case of a 71-year-old asymptomatic patient who presented with a gradually enlarging, raised lesion on the face over two years, clinically resembling a pyogenic granuloma. An excisional biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of cutaneous metastasis from clear cell RCC. Further staging investigations revealed a mass in the upper pole of the left renal cortex, a suspicious lesion in the lower pole, and bilateral pulmonary nodules, suggesting me

Solid-variant aneurysmal bone cysts (ABC) are rare benign bone neoplasms that lack the characteristic prominent blood-filled cystic spaces of classic ABCs and can present in unusual locations, such as the distal extremities. We report three patients with an age range of 40-53 years (mean 48) of solid-variant ABCs presenting as skin-associated masses on the fingers, a highly unusual and diagnostically challenging presentation from both clinical and dermatopathologic standpoints. These lesions initially posed a diagnostic challenge due to their resemblance to more common dermatologic entities, s

BACKGROUND: Pyogenic granuloma (PG), also known as lobular capillary haemangioma, is a benign vascular proliferation that typically presents as friable, red, pedunculated papules on the skin or mucous membranes. Multiple periungual pyogenic granulomas, a unique entity within cutaneous pyogenic granulomas, most frequently occur in association with medications, including antiretroviral drugs.
CLINICAL CASE: A 30-year-old male living with HIV presented with painful, progressively enlarging ulcero-proliferative lesions on the fingertips and toes, occurring 12 months after initiating highly active

Pyogenic granuloma gravidarum (PGG) is a benign fibrovascular lesion arising during pregnancy. This report concerns a woman in her third trimester of pregnancy with recurrent left epistaxis and a swelling in her left nostril. She was diagnosed with PGG via magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and nasoendoscopy. The lesion was managed conservatively and the neonate was delivered without complication at 37 weeks of gestation. Evidence shows that MRI is superior to computerised tomography (CT) in the assessment of soft-tissue masses, but there is a paucity of MRI PGG imaging in the literature. This r

PURPOSE: Müller's muscle-conjunctival resection (MMCR) is a well-established posterior approach to correct mild to moderate ptosis. Traditional methods involve resection of a measured segment of Müller's muscle and conjunctiva, followed by the approximation of resected edges with sutures. In recent years, various sutureless MMCR techniques have been reported. Here, we describe and evaluate a modified sutureless approach that eliminates the need for specialized instruments.
METHODS: A retrospective case series was conducted to evaluate outcomes of patients who underwent sutureless MMCR ptosis

Amelanotic melanocytic nevi of the oral cavity are uncommon lesions that often present a diagnostic challenge for clinicians, primarily due to their nonspecific clinical appearance and the broad spectrum of possible differential diagnoses. These lesions can mimic a variety of benign and malignant conditions, requiring precise histopathological confirmation. The primary objective of this article is to present a comprehensive case report-tracing the course from initial presentation through diagnostic workup to final diagnosis-and to provide an overview of the current literature on oral amelanoti

This case report aims to contribute to the understanding and documentation of intravascular papillary endothelial hyperplasia (IPEH) in the oral cavity, emphasizing its significance in clinical practice. We report a 65-year-old female patient with reddish swelling over the left lateral border of the tongue for two months. The swelling was non-tender and non-pulsatile. Excisional biopsy under local anaesthesia was done. On histopathological examination, it was diagnosed as IPEH based on two key features: anastomosing and interconnecting papillary projections of endothelial cell proliferation, a
