Mortality from cancer and other causes in male and female first-degree relatives of women with breast cancer diagnosed before age 60 has been examined in a large population-based cohort study, providing estimates of familial risks free from ascertainment or recall bias. We used cyclosporin A (CA) to treat 14 patients (25 eyes) with Behçet's disease characterized by severe retinal vasculitis and active intraocular inflammation. A current concern for these workers is the potential carcinogenicity posed by inhalation of bitumen fumes or dermal exposure to bitumens. OBJECTIVE: Mesenrhombencephalitis is a serious form of brainstem inflammation predominantly involving the deep and vital portions of the brain, that is, the mesencephalon (midbrain) and rhombencephalon (pons, medulla). Mesenrhombencephalitis is difficult to diagnose on the basis of clinical and laboratory findings alone, and access to this portion of the brain for surgical biopsy carries high morbidity.
