Molecular mechanisms underlying thrombosis in systemic lupus erythematosus - A Systematic review.

Patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) face an approximately 30 % risk of thrombosis post-diagnosis. However, there remains significant knowledge gaps regarding causative mechanisms, and there is a lack of specific antithrombotic guidelines. This systematic review aims to examine the existing literature regarding the mechanisms contributing to thrombosis risk in SLE, focusing on five predefined procoagulant domains: autoantibodies (including antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL)), the complement system, platelets, the endothelium, and the coagulation system. The review followed the Prefe

A multiaxial bioreactor system that applies targeted magnitudes of strain energy to 3D cellular constructs.

Cyclic mechanical stimulation is instrumental in the remodeling and engineering of musculoskeletal tissue, yet the physical mechanisms that regulate this mechanobiological response are poorly understood. A plausible explanation is that extracellular matrix remodeling is governed by the strain energy that develops during tissue distortion and dilation. A major barrier to testing strain energy-based theories is the absence of in vitro experimental methods that can prescribe targeted amounts of strain energy to 3D cellular constructs under different physiological loads for given thermodynamic con

Multiple DMARD discontinuations in rheumatoid arthritis: how often and in what patients? Results from a national clinical RA register.

OBJECTIVES: Multiple discontinuations of biologic (b-) or targeted synthetic (ts-) disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) may indicate difficult-to-treat disease. We aimed to assess the occurrence of b/tsDMARD discontinuations in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), specifically how this varies by definition, across patient subsets and over time. METHODS: Observational cohort study using data from the Swedish Rheumatology Quality Register on patients diagnosed with RA between 2010 and 2019. We identified three populations: (1) newly diagnosed (N=17 780), (2) initiating a first-eve

Assessment of Thiol/Disulfide Homeostasis and Its Association With Clinical Manifestations in Behcet's Disease.

Behcet's disease (BD) is a multisystemic inflammatory vasculitis characterized by recurrent episodes of exacerbation and remission, with unpredictable duration and system involvement in each episode. Although previous studies have shown the role of oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of BD, the relationship between the clinical features of Behcet's disease and oxidative stress has not been fully studied to date. This study aims to assess the parameters of dynamic thiol disulfide homeostasis (DTDH) and their relationship with different clinical characteristics of disease in BD patients. Fifty
